Sumthin' cheap for 36 dollars?

My main reason would be the "high carbon stanless steel" and the fact that I don't really trust gerbers newer knives.....iv had some bad experience:thumbdn:

Perhaps you should first say what are your planned uses for the new knife?

I think it's pointless to throw out suggestions if we don't know what you want to do with the knife.

Precisely. You want something functional or you want one of those black stabby things with pointy bits sticking out of them...like the ones in your collectioon you showed us. Either way is fine. Just a hint would help us help you.

Here. You want some cheap fun? Get a BlackJack Grunt. Big hunk of convexed 25 buck 10Cr17 steel.

Or, like whetlock said, get the Kabar Dozier large folding hunter. Phenomenal knife for about 25 bucks.

Neither are black coated or have knucks on the grips. They just cut stuff.

What happened? Share it with the class!

Basically (I can't remember the model) I had a gerber liner lock that got to the point where I couldn't bend the liner out of the way of the blade without a screw driver....any way this was after NO batoning or prying or any thing, just no good IMO....i think it was the lock face wearing down, anyway I almost took a good piece of my finger off trying to close that thing.

And the more I think of it, I haven't had a really good experience with there fixed blades either..but there tuff enough just as long as you don't mind them not taking that good of a edge....

Just my opinion.......the old gerbers are great though!!!

My collection was purely based on looks and I was quite young when I started that so yeah not much practicality there

Do you want to continue on that route or move on to "big boy" knives? You have never made that clear. (BTW didn't you say you are 13 or something similarly "quite young"?)

I'm saying Condor knife or a machete. The Condor Rodan is in your price range and it's pretty comfy with a little shaping of the handle.

Spyderco persistence/tenacious/resilience.

Anything Kershaw that under that price range (Leeks and Skylines are nice.)

Kabar Becker BK13 is a nice little nice. You can get some paracord and wrap yourself a nice handle and still have enough coin for a snack.

If you can find one, Meyerco Wharning neck knife is awessome. IMO it is a great value. Sheath is decent, steal is mediocre (7cr17) but gets razor sharp, has micarta handles, and is a great design. I carry mine daily.

Hope you find a nice new toy!
