Sumthin' cheap for 36 dollars?

Or, you could pick up a lightly used knife in the for sale section of bladeforums. Two of my top three favorite knives came from the members here on BF.

For a fixed blade, a Mora, Condor Rodan/Varan/Kumonga(depending on how big you want, the Rodan is the smallest, the Kumonga is the largest), or Condor Hudson Bay knife are all fine choices in that price range.

For a folder, a Spyderco Tenacious, or any of Kershaw's budget line(Skyline, OSO Sweet, etc) should be doable at that price range. You could probably manage both a Mora and a Kershaw OSO Sweet with $36.

Since it is so cheap and you are all doubtful of the Gerber that just gives more reason to buy it

Then why are you here? You ask for advice, claiming to want to learn from people who know their blades, then you specifically decide to ignore the people who you were wanting to learn from? If you're going to pick whatever you want regardless of what we say, why ask for our views in the first place? People are doubtful of the Gerber for a reason, they aren't trying to trick you into missing a good knife.

Then why even ask. Poor form to all the good people who tried to help you in this thread, if you ask me. :thumbdn:
I asked because I would like to everybody's two cents and since there was nothing good and specific and it is so cheap I will find out for myself.

And since nobody here has owned one for efficient feedback, why should I trust you? And "mystery" is not always bad. It can be but not always.

Just looking at some in my spyderpac on my wall.
CRKT M16 series has some good sub 40 dollars knives.
Kershaw od 1 or 2
Just about any Victorinox for that price
Leatherman ps4 squirt
You could get a handful of sanrenmu's or any of those other chinese knock off knives. They're still good knives if you don't have a problem with imported "copies" as most people call them.
I picked up a tenacious for 40 bucks
Gerber E.A.B. takes the carpenter utility blades
CRKT Pazoda 2 and even the larger pazoda 1 i think for that money
Kershaw Chill
Ka-bar Dozier folder.
CRKT Folts minimalist neck knife too.
Yep, that's about all I got for about that price. A lot of these are 20 or under, you might even be able to get 2 name brand knives if you shop in the right places.

It's 5Cr15MoV. This is a low quality steel. If you just want something for looks or light use, fine. If you want something for heavy use, it's not what you're looking for. If you aren't willing to sharpen regularly, it's not even what you want for medium use.

I have a Minimalist in 5Cr15MoV and I don't like the steel. For some reason it doesn't "feel" sharp, even if it shaves... strange. Might partly be the blade design... wharncliffe, no belly whatsoever.
