SURVEY:Best production quality. Please participate.

Spyderco. I own Benchmades, Microtechs, Emersons, Gerbers, and for out of the box quality none are as good as Spyderco. I've had minor and major problems with BMs, I just send back my MT for repair work, and the Emersons are iffy on QC. I have never had any kind of problem with a Spyderco. What more can I say?

That question cannot be answered simply.
How can any one company be best? The selection of good quality factory knives is tremendous but PRICE has to be a consideration. A sebenza isn't BETTER than a
outdoor edge krait. They're both excellent knives for the money. In fact the krait is a fantastic knife for the money but it's no sebenza. To pick best buys you'd have to catergorize the knives by price.

When buying a knife, price is definitely an issue. But for this survey all I am interested in is quality.

Let's say someone handed you knives from all of the major production companies but did not tell you the prices. You have no idea what they cost but you have rated them in quality.

Thanks.

Once again, obviously Reeve is the best, and Spyderco is far and away the best in the lower price range. MT and MOD are excellent knives if you don't require use of all your digits!!!

I'm going to catch Hell for this.
Let me preface this by saying, I have the greatest respect for Chris Reeve, and his knives. I've had his personal carry knife in my hand.

If there were just two knives on the table; a Sebenza, and a Spyderco Jess Horn C27, I'd take the C27. The prices would be close, the quality I have to give to Chris. The deciding factor would only come down to what I want right now. A Boker "SkyWalker", a William Henry, and a Case/Bose Trapper, would also be very tempting. My plan however is to only buy Custom this year.

I admit, I don't know much, but I know what I like.

Never having handled any of CRK`s products I am unfit to make a judgement. If however, anyone would like to send me a large Sebenza to inspect,I`d be happy to give a full report on my findings.

Of the knives that are in my collection I would have to say that my Speedtech is flawless.I kind of feel that the Speedtechs border on being semi-customs along with CRK.I`ve owned several Spyderco products and have`nt had a problem with any of them.I do`nt hesitate to order them mail order, sight unseen with full confidence that the knife I recieve will be of the highest quality.Unfortunately,I ca`nt say the same for Benchmade.I want to pick and choose before I settle on a given specimen.

Imagine what we could do if we thought we could not fail

CRK, Microtech then Spyderco by a significant margin over the rest. Never seen a Speedtech in person.

In my personal experience: 1. Microtech 2. Spyderco, Benchmade,GT,and REKAT (4 way tie for second) 3. Cold Steel

I'm consistantly impressed with the quality of Spyderco knives.

To me the Sebenza just seems like a custom piece!

<G> Is there somthing wrong with Boker?I see only one person thinks there worthy.I like the Boker Stella,I think its one of the finest production folders I own.I have Benchmades,Spydercos,Bucks, ect.,but you know what!?!?IMHO There no where near as smooth as my Boker! They all sit in a shoebox now.
Take care

I've not yet been dissappointed by a Spyderco product, and having just yesterday added a G-10 Police model to my Spyder's nest, that trend happily continues.
In order are my opinions of the best production makers:
1. Spyderco
2. Kershaw
3. Cold Steel
4. Benchmade
5. REKAT

Does anybody else see more and more honest value in factory knives appearing almost every time they pick up a knife magazine and see the good new stuff hitting the market and seem to find it getting equally harder to find as much of the same in custom knives?
