SURVEY:Best production quality. Please participate.

William Henry,
Reeves,
SpeedTech,
Microtech,
Seki Japan stuff imported by A.G. Russel and Al Mar,
Spyderco,
Benchmade,

And in there somewhere in the middle, a single model, the A.F. Covert by Gerber. One of the best made production folders I've used.

The Martial Way asked: "I know Cold Steel is full of hype, but does the tape prove anything?"

Yeah. I think it proves that Cold Steel can make a Great sleep aid for insomniacs like me. Works every time.

From what I've handled:

1. CRK
2. Microtech

Once I handled these manufacturers, most other companies ceased to exist IMHO. Wish CRK had a more diverse lineup though.

Chris Reeve --------one mile later Microtech---------------50 miles later everything else.

I would say Chris Reeve has the upper hand at present. Although William Henry is showing a lot of promise in my view. Overall the factory's are getting better and better all the time. This seems to be putting some pressure on custom makers. I predict the pressure will increase. Things are going to get very competitive in the near future IMO.

Well...after rolling through this thread, Id have to say..there are many....We are in the golden age of cutlery/technology, just look at some of the production knives on the market...top quality tecno wonders...our bang for the buck is high!!
biggrin.gif
just about all of the brands mentioned have excellent qc....I cannot recall ever seeing a CRK with any kind of flaw....I have, though, seen most of the other brands mentioned with problems atleast once. A few, more than once. IE: fit, finish, lockup, grind, crooked stamps, tempers, ect. But these companies stand behind there products strongly and always make it right for the consumers!

Seiki-made Spydercos.

Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

CRK, Microtech, Klötzli, Spyderco.
I have to admit, that from the brands noted above I'll only use my spyderco's. To me the best price/perfomance-ratio.
I also use SAK's which I like very much.

Since I don't have a CR knife (yet), I would have to say SpeedTech's Synergy. It's one solid piece of work, smooth action, locks every time and beautiful on top of that.

Of the knives I own, I'd say Chris Reeve comes out on top followed by SpyderCo, and I have had good quality from Benchmade and Gerber(fixed blades) as well. I plan on owning a TOPS knife soon, we'll see where it lands.

Gerber--one of the few truly American manufacturers left. And excellent quality.

Interesting stuff.

I was going to add a vote for Spyderco and suggest that if all the Benchmades are as nicely done as the 710 axis, then BM deserves mention. I think you get a lot of knife for the money from either of these companies.
