Survival knives!

I carry and use RAT Cutlery and they have a Excellent warranty and it to is lifetime.Great blade ,hard working knife that is to use not for show....no foo foo stag handles, not knocking anyone who like the stag for a handle but for a survival knife or a work knife as I use mine, don't need flash to save your *ss.I would not want to be in a desperate situation and have a excellent blade with a so so handle. I would not want a blade I could not baton or abuse ; if needed but worried about the handle material failing from the blade being struck and pressure applied.just my 2cents....

As I said the stag handle one was not purchased as a survival knife. Its my hunting knife. And as I said they make it in other handles. I do use my knives. Stag handles are more durable than alot of folks think. They have been used for thousands of years. Stag would not be my first choice for a survival knife. Thats why I like my leather handle. I was just showing that there are other option as a survival knife besides a para-miliatery stlye knife. The best survival knife is one you feel comfortable carrying and can take a beating. This little huntsman has a thick blade and full tang. If the stag broke you would still have a handle. And if its a life and deat situation who cares if the handle gets broke. Beleive me these knives are users and not safe queens.

I own one barkie "north star" and it is sharp but the handle is not completely right so I will be returning the north star back to barkie for a replacement or fix how ever they see fit, I'll give there warranty a whirl......but the blade it self is great.

heres a few more.

I like the Rats also. I'm not an exclusive one brand type person. I think there are alot of good knives out there made by differant company.Just so often when some one says survival knife they end up getting a knife based on hype. Now if I could only have one knife it would be my leather handled Boone. Well I have to go to inlaws for Christmas this morning so ya have a wonderful day. I will get on tomorrow.

Texastonydobbs, They will make it right. I cut through my sheath and they sent me a new sheath. It was their old style sheath and the replaced it with their better sheath that now comes with the knife.

yes I like the bravo -1 with blue/ orange handle or green micarta...Auroua...micro slither, mini northstar...I like barkie ...I am not trying to sound dis-respectful but stag as a hunting knife is fine but there are times hunting trips turn into survival situations really fast and '' I " prefer a different type of handle on my blade no matter what brand I carry....kyhunt have a safe trip.....

You have good taste, thanks for id'ing the Boone. I've got a Lil Boone, looks like I need to get it's big brother, I really like that knife! I like it better after the 6 months of usage, too! I think good wear marks make a knife look good and give it character! Thanks for getting back to me and thanks for all the pictures!
