I am surprised too. It's got to be the price. I had a good sale with him on one of my 5.1s and he was an excellent buyer.

Question from a newbie. I have been reading through this thread and it seems like the only way to get a knife (beyond pre-orders) is to grab a "second" during a Monday sale.

However, on the Survive! site it says a variety of models (for example the GSO 4.7) will be "in stock soon". If say, I wanted to try and get my hands on a CPM-154 GSO 4.7, is that still possible or has the window of opportunity passed me by?

Thanks in advance for any info.

You haven't missed the window, the boards will light up here when they are available for sale and they won't last very long.

Are you talking about the "in stock soon" by certain models on their own page on the website? I don't really know what that means but I think it means As Soon As Possible.......... which could still be a few months or many months depending on the model. They'll be ready sooner than models that haven't gone in production, but "soon" is a pretty relative term.

Monday sales would be a faster way to get a knife directly through them. The SURVIVE! team is supposed to be out of the shop this month so I'm not sure if there will be sales today.

To misquote the Princess Bride "in stock soon" doesn't mean what you think it does.
A better translation might be "getting closer to being ready to ship knives to folks that ordered them quite a while back and we just might have some extras for sale on Mondays if you are fast enough".
Of course in an ideal world once all the orders are filled there would be "extra stock" but that hasn't happened since they updated to the current generation knife designs and production process.

Help me remember... did they sell a bunch of 5.1's after all preorders we're filled? I want to say they did, but I ain't got no facts.

First, thank you all for the prompt replies.

This is kind of what I was imagining. I figured they made a set amount of X knives in each steel, then after they filled pre-orders/pre-sales, the rest would go on sale for general ordering. I presume there would be some "1sts" and some "2nds", but as other posters have suggested, they would all go quickly so I would have to be on the ball. Is this an incorrect assumption?

I feel like I saw a thread somewhere where a poster said he missed out on initial ordering and also wanted a CPM-154 knife and asked the survive team if they thought they would have extra and the said they certainly should have some.

Edit: Here is the post I mean:

You are correct, all of the unsold blades from the run go up for sale after the preorders are filled. This usually includes firsts and seconds. The Monday sales that happen before the preorders are filled include only seconds (these are knives that are supposed to be firsts to fill preorders but do not pass QC, and so are deemed seconds). I would definitely suggest signing up for the newsletter. The knife that you have the highest probability of scoring in the near future will be a 4.7 in 20CV or perhaps 3V from a Monday sale. You will want to watch the production schedule on their sight very close on Sunday evenings/Monday mornings for the next month or two, as they will announce the sale time there. Be ready to go at sale time with your options all figured out and get it done quick, they go fast!
