Survive! Knives Heads Up

I agree they should just focus in the pre-orders and do the seconds etc after all pre orders are filled
Would be much more respectful of the people who invested good money in their company

Yeah, and totally disrespectful to everyone else that bought in against a different timeline commitment (of 15 days) that's also getting totally blown past and ignored by S!.

Bottom line is that they need to just stop taking orders for inventory until they're through, and ship out whatever they can against their backlog out the door as fast as they can, in whatever helter-skelter sequence they can muster, before even the most die-hard faithful lose their patience and pull their orders.

They've made different (implied or literal) timeframe commitments to different people at different points along this saga, as I understand it, and I've yet to see anyone that's asserting that any of those are getting met.

It's a week past the date that they assured me (via their messaging system on their site) that my 4.7 CFV f2nd would ship, and after bugging them today, they asserted that it'd definitely be in the mail in another week.

If that turns out to be hogwash too, I'll probably just wash my hands and get a nice Fiddleback or Carothers and call it a day. I'm curious about how nice these knives ostensibly are, but they're definitely not the only belle at the "refined 3V field knives" ball.

There are plenty of places to bitch about S!K, this is supposed to be for a heads up if you see one posted somewhere.

I ordered some F2 3.5's and a few F1 4.1's early last year from what I recall on the older models. The wait back then was still long at 4 months, but I figured that was Survive! reputation of taking a long time, but sending out quality knives at decent prices. This is before they moved and started doing the pre-orders for the newer versions. I learned that I'm not the patient type when it comes to getting my toys, so I opted to pay the extra on the secondary markets moving forward. I paid a little more than getting them direct, but I have them in my hands within a few days. I don't think that it should be a surprise to wait a year for the newer models coming out, but I do understand that they should be honest about the time frame to expect delivery. It would be a better policy to double or increase the expected wait time by 50% that they tell us, than deliver earlier than expected because at least customers can't gripe about how long it's taking because it's forth coming and they were made aware. It would also free up Ellie's time as well because she wouldn't have to deal with constant emails and calls from customers, who's deadlines had passed and are awaiting their knives. Whether or not saving $25-$50 by pre-ordering, buying direct, and waiting is up to the individual. I hope they find a faster and more efficient process, but I do appreciate the time they take to assure that the knives they send out are quality and meet Guy's high expectations. I have never heard a complaint about a Survive! blade once the individual gets it in their hands. I will be testing out my slightly used GSO 5.1 in 20CV this weekend on a backpacking trip with my wife and kids. I paid $230 for it and other than a little touch up on the edge it's a quality Survive! blade.

Found a 4.7 Cru Forge V on Ebay today. They're asking $200 with $15 shipping.

Current Production:
GSO-4.7: The original SURVIVE! Starter orders are mostly shipped. Remaining preorders will be heading out in the next couple of weeks.
We are also working on fulfilling GSO-2.7 preorders.
The last of the GSO-4.1 materials are almost done being made.
GSO-7/7 blades are being finished in the SURVIVE! Workshop.
The next model to be cut out will be the GSO-3.5.
Production is scheduled to continue in the following order:
GSO-12
GSO-6
GSO-4.5 Bushcraft
GSO-10
GSO-8
Future Production:
The following knives will be added to the Production Schedule as soon as we have steel to start cutting them out:
GSO-5.1
Necker and Necker II
SURVIVE! News:

We understand that the wait for the GSO-4.7 orders has been frustrating. Those were one of the first models to go through the new production process, so there has been a lot of hand finishing required. A step which is particularly difficult when handling sharp blades. The good news is that we have changed the way we do things in the SURVIVE! Workshop and things are going much more smoothly now. Those orders should be shipping out in larger batches, without lowering the fit and finish standard that we strive for.

I didn't see the 2.7 'Pre-sales' in there. I guess complaining gets you put to the back of the line...............

She was probably just scared to mention the pre-sales since everyone exploded over the 7 pre-sale lately. Or more likely a simple oversight.

Ronnie, my man, take some deep breaths :)

There isn't anything I can say that will really help, but I do know how you feel.

I have mixed feelings about whether seconds should be allowed to go out before firsts and I remember that debate came up back with the 5.1's.

I really don't like the R word, but if the wait really is killing you, about all you can do is ask for a refund so you have the money to buy on the secondary market or wait it out. Neither option may be overly appealing, but since your story about Rip seems pretty spot on as far as who gets served first, those might be it for the present time.

Thanks for understanding Silver. Let me be clear. I don't want a refund. I want my GSO 2.7 in CPM20CV. Secondly, while it's nobody's business, I could just go buy one on the secondary market if I wanted and could find one. I don't need the hundred bucks back on the 2.7 order to do that. I ain't rich but the bills get paid and I have some money to "play" too. I also work hard at my sheath gig to make more cash for play time. I've had a new knife delivered here every day this week so far (none Thursday but another one came today though- :D). I've owned $1400.00 Vallotton Customs and $750.00 Chris Reeves, among others. I realized I'm a user and not a "collector" so those knives aren't for me these days. It's not about the money really.

My point is that I feel lied to and deceived and so do many others and S!K refuses to address the REAL issues here with the truth. There must be a reason that Ellie dances around all of these complaints with the same rhetoric we've heard for two years plus. The open and closed post with the production schedule gave ZERO answers. ZERO. It simply said that one model is in production and every model that would be produced after that. We could get that info from you Silver. What I (we?) want is real timelines and the truth.

STOP suckering me with verbage in a sales thread and then leave me hanging for months on end. S!K KNEW when they listed the 2.7 "pre-sale" and said, in writing, that they would deliver in a couple months, that it was never going to happen.

STOP offering all these other blades for sale when you could have been working on all the blades that you are so far behind on, with that situation growing worse by the day. Unless you have no choice, OR you think that since those of us complaining don't really matter. I guess S!K is big time now and customer service is the first go most times when the money starts rolling in.

It doesn't take a genius to see that this is a financial issue for S!K. I'm just a hick from Texas and about as blue collar as it gets and it's writing on the wall for me. They MUST sell these knives and continue the pre-order/pre-sale deal to get cash in the door. Is there any rational explanation for the 7/7 sale with half the BF customers having the same issues with getting their knives?

Come on already.......
