Survive! knives

So if Survive is now selling the knives with or without the sheath does anyone know how much less on the price without the sheath?

I know the factory seconds that he stated had almost no noticeable blemish was 170 while the ones with rough grind marks were 140 so I'm guessing 30 dollars off without sheath. Since the normal price is 200

The sk series in s7 steel is 150 with a sheath so maybe 120 without. Is 3v worth the extra $50 over s7?

That depends on your needs. Are any of these worth the cost over a Becker BK-16 or ESEE-4 in 1095? I think so, and I think 3V or 20CV @ 60Rc both offer advantages over S7 @ 57Rc in a knife this size (edge strength, wear-resistance), especially with an uncoated blade to reduce drag as well, and the benefit of better balance with the skeletonized handle...

Regarding the sheaths, easily worth $40 (check comparables fromAzwelke and Godspeed, etc.) but you'd have to ask Kiah directly. The way i see it, both knife and sheath are discounted as a package deal.

I need some advice, I wanted to put some oil on my knife before storing it away. I normally put it on the whole knife. So I wanted to remove the handle scales but somehow the middle bolt is stuck. I can rotate the scale around the bolt, pull it, push it but it seems to be jammed tight in the hole. Any idea or should I just take a hammer?

I wouldn't hammer it. Try clamping the knife down with padding, then use a screw driver that fits snug in the slot so you don't damage the screws.

GEEEEEZ! GSO 3.5s are already showing up on the secondary market and I'm still waiting for my pre-order. :(

I feel that 100% of users aren't going to be able to "tell" the difference between S7 and 3V. Buy what you can afford and what works for your situation. I personally like the lateral flex strength characteristics in 3V, yet I'd wanna see them made by makers thinner in general (Unless there are some structural integrity issues at certain tolerances) I'm sure Guy could speak to this.

Also, just curious, why the draw to a scandi on this profile of a blade? Just seems counterintuitive unless you're a collector.

Looking forward to my 3.5 on the way! Keep up the great work Survive! Crew!

Remove the other bolts, then rotate the scale and pop it off by applying pressure on he inner side of the scale immediately adjacent to the bolted tang. Don't try too hard, though. If it won't pop off, keep it rotated and then place a block of hardwood against the bolt on the unscaled side and apply pressure until the block is flush with the tang, popping the bolt through the hole. Some of the bolts/holes seem press-fitted, the tolerances are so tight! I mention that in one of my reviews. On the other hand, if you don't really need that scale off, just apply oil around the bolt and let it work its way underneath. Good luck!

I just ordered a secondary 4.1 and necker. Can't wait to see the little guys I'm sure I'll love them as much as my GSO 10. I'm most definately ordering a 4.1 in scandi as soon as its offered.

I wonder how long the stuff from the blemish/moving sale will take to get out and shipped.

I'm about ready to jump on a 2nds 4.1, what is a good universal sheath that fits the 4.1? Been wanting a GSO 4.1 for awhile now, and the "rough surface" just means I can use it without worrying about the finish ;)

I talked to Josh at Survive! this morning to get an answer to the "Moving Sale" shipping timing. He stated that either this or next week, but no later than next week. They are very busy and I am sure we are all ready to give them some leeway on shipping timing since they gave us such great deals.

Sheaths are about $15-$20, I believe.
