Survive! Sheaths and standard attachments that fit them

They're pretty good but I prefer a mischmetal ferro rod. They throw molten globs that burn longer.

Nice. I got a bunch of cheap ones and they work fine. I was just looking for something small like key chain size. I seen some one posting about them a few weeks ago. They talked highly of them said they have used it enough to refill it a few times. That's saying something with 1500 or so strikes.

The exotac shines if you want a bit of storage. I carry one all the time with a piece of jelly cottonball in the cap. It's a good steel.

Standard is right though, those mischmetal steels throw big gobs of fire. I really like the ones goinggear makes, and he has a bunch of sizes. Plus, he supports this site

Another good steel is the gobspark armageddon. It is not keychain size though, more like one to stow in a pack, probably my favorite full-size steel. The armageddon is from firesteel.com and they offer small steels with a hole for keyring attachment.

Very cool! Can you get them on BF?

Are you asking about the mischmetal ones from going gear, TT? I don't think he sells here on bladeforums, but his website is goinggear.com. His username here is 'storl' and they also have a storefront in Smyrna, Georgia. I'd love to get in there, a little far for me, ha. Good outfit.

AAAAnnnd now I want a Vic Farmer with a pocket-clip. Great. Thanks for that :p I was doing SO well waiting on the new S!K models, kept myself away from the GSO-8 and 4.5, and I even held off all of the new Bussekin offering (well, other than a chophouse and ratweiler, but only those two), and then this. I want one.

Damn! So many knives, so little money!! They only non S!K I have been after is a Swatmandu. And I can't find a black canvas handle to save my life

speaking of sheaths....My little "mount all my knifes on the wall" project is underway and I determined that the slots in the survive sheaths are perfect for mounting...one downside is I went through all this trouble strapping on a big-ole-sac to my 5.0 sheath in a semi permanent way... SO I did what any normal sane person would do and ordered a spare sheath in a different color simply to wall mount it conveniently... no biggy until i realized i really wanted to try out one of those sagewood scout sheaths that guy has had on his site for the 4.1....that was an expensive late night splurge...

That looks great Jman!

TY! It works good too - the knife handle is now positioned where my hand falls naturally.

I really like seeing homegrown solutions going mainstream so to speak, I also love seeing how various users solutions can be adapted for other people: good ppl helping good ppl, aint that just the best? ok ok ill calm down.

No need for concern. I have zero creativity unfortunately - and no ability to work with my hands - so stuff like this is always frustrating for me, which is why it's nice to find people who have what I lack. The ideas are in my head, but I'm not able to translate those into a functional product I'm afraid. One of my Grandfathers was a master craftsman and I would watch in awe as he made something from nothing, but sadly I didn't inherit his skills.

Looks like you guys got the issues figured out with the Delta sheath/uke attachment

We did indeed. The small adapter plate he made worked out well. I had to add a few very thin washer shims to ensure everything was flush, but other than that it was Chiral's design.

Lol. That is one mod that I tackled myself that actually worked out! :) Although when everything was in parts and pieces, there was a time I wondered if it was going back together, ha.

If you decide to tackle one I'll try to help with locating parts/supplies/tools.

That really is a pretty awesome mod, I was trying to find what model that was and face palmed a bit

Yes please! I feel like an idiot because I just recently sold a Benchmade 745 with two extra pocket clips and screws that i could have used for this! Oh well. I found the pocket clip on knifekits.com, just need to know what screws you used  I'm about to place an order for some more kydex and eyelets from them, so this will help fill out my package

EDIT: Nevermind, found the recommendation on the site. So now I just need to decide which clip... they're all out of that uncoated clip you have, I guess I'll get a black one... Any reason you picked THAT clip over something else? Also, did you tap the liners or just screw the screws into the aluminum (like a guy on another forum did)?

I picked that particular clip because 1) it looked like it matched the profile of the scales, and 2) the two-screw design is open on the part of the scale where one of the pins comes through. I've carried it every day for years now without trouble, it is a very durable clip and I couldn't be more pleased with it.

I did two of these. The first one I drilled and tapped the holes as best I could without drilling the pins out and disassembling the knife. I locked-tighted the screws in and have not had any trouble with that clip, except for the nagging doubt in my head. As you know, there is not much screw/thread involved there, and that one always bothered me.

So the second one I added the clip to, I drove out the pins and disassembled it, then just took the slab and drilled and tapped it. The drilling and tapping was so much easier to do with the knife disassembled. Then I reassembled and pinned it back together, and then set the screws in the clip last since there is the one pin under the clip. This worked really well and I got the screws nicely secured by doing it this way.

If you disassemble it, when you reset the pins really take care when you're peening the heads down. When I got close, I literally had to go one strike and check for tightness. As soon as it gets snug to open, stop or you'll have it too tight to open. I'd say that is the most critical part of the whole mod is resetting the pins properly. Also, these SAK pins are metric. I think you need two sizes, 2.5mm and 3mm. I went with the nickel silver ones from Jantz, it was the only place I could find the metric.

ETA: You got a tap Chiral? I can't remember if those were $$ but if they are shoot me a PM and I'll send you mine.
