Survive! Sheaths and standard attachments that fit them

That's such a great mod that I didn't even notice it until everyone said something!
Is that a Farmer or a Pioneer? I only ask because I'm hooked on this idea but I'm wondering if the Farmer is to thick to carry this way with a clip. I've been eyeing the dark blue Pioneer and this would be cool on it.

I picked that particular clip because 1) it looked like it matched the profile of the scales, and 2) the two-screw design is open on the part of the scale where one of the pins comes through. I've carried it every day for years now without trouble, it is a very durable clip and I couldn't be more pleased with it.

I did two of these. The first one I drilled and tapped the holes as best I could without drilling the pins out and disassembling the knife. I locked-tighted the screws in and have not had any trouble with that clip, except for the nagging doubt in my head. As you know, there is not much screw/thread involved there, and that one always bothered me.

So the second one I added the clip to, I drove out the pins and disassembled it, then just took the slab and drilled and tapped it. The drilling and tapping was so much easier to do with the knife disassembled. Then I reassembled and pinned it back together, and then set the screws in the clip last since there is the one pin under the clip. This worked really well and I got the screws nicely secured by doing it this way.

If you disassemble it, when you reset the pins really take care when you're peening the heads down. When I got close, I literally had to go one strike and check for tightness. As soon as it gets snug to open, stop or you'll have it too tight to open. I'd say that is the most critical part of the whole mod is resetting the pins properly. Also, these SAK pins are metric. I think you need two sizes, 2.5mm and 3mm. I went with the nickel silver ones from Jantz, it was the only place I could find the metric.

ETA: You got a tap Chiral? I can't remember if those were $$ but if they are shoot me a PM and I'll send you mine.

Too late, already payed for the new tap :) I got the black version of your clip because the plain wasn't in stock at KK, also got the plain "micro fold-over" clip since I saw that in a couple of pics online, and got a plain and also a black curvy one - now I have options! Now i still need to buy the knives they'll go with ;) I guess I'll need to get some pins for re-assembling the knives... but i may wait until the other materials are here first and try it first without dis-assembly. There was kydex and eyelets in the mix for other projects, but I am very excited about this one. Thanks for the info

FYI, I've seen folks use the Nite-Ize clips on SAKs, including Alox. Drilling and tapping is possibly sturdier and a bit slimmer, but just a heads up for those not keen on the fiddling involved.

Wish Vic would make a 91mm (Camper preferably) with a OHO blade. Toss on a liner lock layer and flipper nub for the main blade and it would sell like proverbial hotcakes IMO.

Gentleman, for some reason the forum kept timing out and I could not post most of yesterday. And multiquote was out of the question for some reason. Seems to be working this morning.

Standard, yeah mine is a Pioneer. It's nice and slim, and carries really well. I don't have a farmer yet, but have wanted one for awhile, they look very useful.

Chiral, I tried to post several times and just could not get it to go through. Anyway, if you hit a snag or strip a screw/bend a pin, give me a shout, I've got extra 2-56 screws and some pin stock. I know you're handy so I doubt you'll have trouble.

Kiah, I actually started with that nite-ize clip. They are pretty good. I caught mine on something and bent it, and so decided to go with something more substantial. If I didn't want to drill I would use one again as they are easily replaceable.

Well I got a Maxpedition TC-1 pouch and stuck it on the GSO-6 and it's great. I think it'll work on the 5 also. I stuck the Condor iPouch on the EDC-4 but it's a bit much.

I did some digging around and also found this little pouch. It might be the one a lot of people have been searching for!

It's a Tareinco sling pouch v.1. I'm thinking it looks a lot like this. Same lining and all.

Does anyone know if a Maxpedition single sheath can wrap around the GSO 5.1's sheaths slots?

You're talking about the flashlight sheath right?

It looks like it'll work. I wish I could check but the pouch I have on it is a nightmare to remove.

Looks like the TC-1 is about perfect. And that GSO 6 is a fine looking blade man.
It fits pretty well with a bit of work. The bottom stitched edges are super sharp so I cut them at an angle and burned the edges. Securing it to the sheath was a pain.
I'm still shocked that the original owner wanted to trade my old GSO 5 straight over for this 6.
Very fine looking blade indeed. But that EDC 4 looks like one sexy beast.
Thanks TT. It's pretty cool to have a piece of history. It's so close to the 4.1 that it's hard to tell the difference when using it. The handles are just a bit fatter.

That's awesome! Thanks for adding a picture also. Are the Velcro straps aligned with the slots?

You're welcome. They just barely line up on the 6 sheath. Here's a quick measurement.
The straps are 4 5/8 end to end.

I love the swell on the EDC-4 scales. Glad to see something similar on the newer blades.

Standard, I took a big length of that webbing and left it sitting in the open for the last few weeks. Lots of rain, and alternating between freezing and "might as well be Spring" (think it was around 70 here Today). No effect whatsoever, looks like it just rolled out of the factory. Neat stuff.
