Survivor Man has a new knife

I didnt intend for this thread to become a Bear Grylls bashing

Please refrain

I love how you couch commando's try to rip on a decorated SAS soldier who was a Specialist Combat Survivalist Instructor, Patrol Medic, and achieved the rank of Lt. Commander.

So what if he stayed in a hotel, haven't you?

Bear Grylls is an honorable man who served his country and you should respect that.

And only after you couch commando's achieve the merits of Bear Grylls, can you bash him

Now, back on topic, can anyone name Les' knife?

No, people can bash him all they want. Sure, they can't say he isn't an honorable man who served his country, and they should definitely respect that, but they DON'T have to respect how he conducts his survival TV show. You can't just say he's done more than them, so they have to shut up about him making, in their opinions, a rediculous and unrealistic TV show. But yeah, it's a pointless topic. I have no idea what the knife is, personally. Try out the Bernard Levine's Knife Collecting & Identification forum, maybe.

fine, then bash him in a Bear Grylls Bashing thread, not this one...for chrissakes, we're trying to figure out Les' knife....STAY ON TOPIC FOR THE LOVE OF PETE

If lost in the forest for a month, who would have a better chance of survival? Bear Grylis or Les Stroud? There is an entire thread on here bashing Bear, but I have to say my money would be on him for a real life situation. On the show he does some dramatic unnecessary things, but there is a disclaimer on the beginning of every show to that effect. If he took the easy road I wouldn't learn as much.

Well I have to say, I have no clue what kind of knife that is. I do agree with most people on here though it seems like he doesnt care about knifes. But I wouldn't think most bush people do. As long as they can make a shelter they're good to go.
Also on the bear grylls thing, I really like bear. I think its awesome he was in the special forces, and all the other accomplishments he made. I love his show, I agree with onedge I learn alot more from his show than les's. My thought is when he's in -15 degree weather, why should he be outside freezing to death, literally. When he could stay alive and be at a hotel. I wouldn't get myself killed for a tv show either.

He was in the army for four years, 3 of which was spent in the hospital in recovery from breaking his back.
It takes atlest 3 years to become SAS.

We are off topic again, but you are wrong, he served three years in the SAS before his injury, the last year he served was in recovery.

And I would like to add that he speaks 3 languages and has a black belt in Karate.

And yeah his show is not "all real", ofcourse he really isnt stuck in quicksand or falling through ice covered lakes, or trapped in the desert.... duh:rolleyes:

The point is, he is showing you how to deal with the situations should they arise.

He is using the show as a tool to show different survival situations, you are an idiot if you think it's supposed to be really happening.

Les Stroud seems to be the "Everyman". I can certainly identifiy with him more than Bear. Les seems to have pretty shoddy stuff with him so I cant imagine the knife shown is much to speak of. He makes it work though.

it looks to have a profile similar to the Linder Skinner:

ok i usually stay out of these threads.....however.....anyone who thinks they are going to deal with survival situations like that is an idiot......maybe i should try and go over 200 in my car after i watch a bunch of nascar.....ryan

No need to protect Bear Grylls. He's tough enough to take the criticism.

And smart enough to never go anywhere without a knife, water bottle and a flint.

And I'm glad he doesn't play the damn harmonica. I mean cmon, who goes out in the woods and doesn't take a method of firestarting, but brings a musical instrument?

I like Les and Bear both. But sometime's Les is a little dramatic. How many times do we need to hear that taking care of the horses is hard work. I counted at least 4 times he said the same thing. And everthing is, "If I don't get over that hill, I could die. If those clouds come this way, I could die., If I don't play my harmonica, I could die., etc."

If I could sit down and have dinner with one of the two, it would be Bear. But I learn from both guys, and I'm glad both shows are on TV.

Les obviously, when he goes into the wilderness on his own, goes plenty prepared. The show is meant to simulate a realistic scenario of being lost in the woods with enough supplies, usually, for a day hike. And hey, when you're alone for 7 days, wouldn't you ramble a bit?

Bear is the best. His show is very good. I watch it all the time. Who in their right mind would spend time in the bush if a hotel was near?

No, that's not it. That has a much more pronounced clip, and a much less pronounced swedge.

Yeah, I probably would ramble a bit!:D I liked the part in the last episode where he showed himself screwing up the takes of him with the fish after he caught them. He just swore and said screw it! I'm eating! :D
