I think the moral here is the knife you have with you is worth a thousand times more that that uber-expensive technosteel custom blade that cost you more than a small car, that you left at home. So what if you can hone it sharp enough to perform surgery on protazoa? If it is sitting home in your safe, that cheap walmart buck 110 on your belt is infinately more valuable.
