Survivors! Suggestion Box for Survive! Knives...

Hear you Tech. Work for myself and have done so for most of my adult life. It's been at least 5 years since I have taken a vacation or even a mini vacation. Been busy bobbing and weaving with Life's curve balls (do boxing & baseball metaphors even mix? LOL!)

emechtech, I'm really sorry to hear how you feel about the company and this community. Things have really gotten out of hand in some threads in the last week and I don't think they were handled well or in a way that represents the community as a whole. One thing that's helped me to keep things in perspective is in the last few months there were some newcomers who I thought would just be chronically unhappy with anything and everything, but after getting some explanation they came around and even if we had to agree to disagree most of them have stuck around enough to make worthwhile contributions here.

It's a hobby for me personally, so it's hard to get upset. It's even harder for me to understand the things some members are saying to each other. We were all raised differently I suppose...

Suggestion: Please respond to the messages sent using the forms provided on surviveknives.com

I see Ellie posting on the forums, but no response to messages sent using the website.

I am behind on emails. I am often behind on emails. I do a lot more than just emails here, and sometimes things pop up that require immediate attention. Honestly, there are some days when it seems like all the emails are mean and I'm just not in the mood to be nice to those sorts of people so I try to wait until I'm in a better state of mind. Seriously, how do you answer something like this: "I would sooner drink a camels pee while dying of thirst in Death Valley than ever do business with you people." (Because there weren't any GSO-5.1s in stock.)

We are actively looking for someone with more patience than I have to help with emails. There will be someone hired to do customer service, as soon as possible.

Hmmm. I never knew there were camels in Death Valley.

Wow. Just wow. I'm sorry (and sad) to hear that people are talking to you like that. I've seen a good bit of this over the last week on the forums, and it's definitely left a bad impression... I understand that tone through text can be hard to interpret, but that doesn't really leave much to figure out.

Thank you for responding to my concerns, despite everything else that's going on.

If I was a knife maker, I would be delighted to not do business with such a human being!

Hang in there Ellie! It's not nice receiving all these comments from the "keyboard warriors", but that the fact that Survive! are getting complaints before customers are receiving their products as opposed to after is a testament to the quality of the product this company is producing.

Please PLEASE make a thread with ridiculous customer quotes for us all to enjoy :D

This will be a great idea for your own sanity's sake. You have too much vested (personally, financially, emotionally) in the business to be matter-of-fact and business-like with rude
and demanding people. Get someone hired with some CR experience who will be able to tell these people, "Thank you for your interest and inquiry. Have a pleasant rest of your day".

Allow me to tell you a story and brace yourself as it's gonna be a looong one:

A couple of weeks ago I was selling off one of the 5.1s which I had bought from you in April 2016, I bought 2 because I wanted to gauge the 3V vs the 20CV, just to fondle them and let one go.
As it happens, I became more partial to the 3V and was hoping the the 20CV would go first, but I was going to keep whichever that did not sell first. I tried them on the other major auction site
first and I received a couple of demeaning and condescending email messages telling me as to what a rip off artist I was as I was asking a premium over what you have them listed on your site.
In my response, i was very polite and stated that I was not forcing anyone to buy my items and also that the 5.1 model was no longer available for preorder and that there was probably a long
waiting period. Also, I was the lowest priced at the time and I was hoping that people would have enough sense to know that eBay fees shave off about 10% of the selling price based on Buy Now.
One person went away, but another who claimed to personally know Guy started to get more aggressive and belligerent in their response. The person had claimed that Guy was very upset about
people doing this and by profiting from his products. Just to shut that person up, I stated that if Guy was having a problem with me, he would be welcome to reach out to me directly. I am neither
a professional knife seller nor a knife dealer. I simply did not need to keep 2 x GSO 5.1 and that was clearly stated in those said listings.

What happened next was very ugly and the person started asking me if I was a stupid a** N****r!!! I merely responsed with, "really? In this day and age?". I then asked the person again to stop
abusing the member to member email communication channel. What came after that was more racial slurs, death wish to my family and I and other belligerent threats. I took the matter up to
eBay and sadly that person is still active but may have received a serious infraction from eBay. Did I believe that the person was speaking on behalf of Survive!? HECK NOOOOO! The moral of the
story is that unfortunately people with little or no regards for other, without any politeness and decorum live among us and the Internet has enabled then to make threats and act all buff and tough
trying to lead a cause which not only has anything to do with them but they need to pick up something to make it a cause to feel better about their own sad and pathetic sub-existence.

For the record, I am not African American and I am not going to die just because someone wished me harm, so those vicious insults have no bearing on anything actual. So here is a suggestion
to bring me back full circle to the topic of this thread:

If that POS who sent me those nasty messages happens to read this, that person should be ashamed of himself and no matter how many tools someone has bought from Survive! stop acting
like you are a part of this company and the sense of self grandeur that you speak for them. If they have a problem, they can speak up for themselves.

Off the soap box and man that felt GOOOOD! And yes Ellie, hire someone to deal with those kind of people who were not blessed with a good family upbringing manifesting in good mannerism
and / or a good life education ;)

Wow! I guess thats the price you pay when doing business with the public... All companies receive such crap emails and much worse! Good on you Ellie for having the foresight and maturity to not engage that bs! You all could hire 10 people and quadruple production and those same people will find something to be douchebags about... Again price of doing business and you have the right attitude:)

For what it's worth I have sent 2 emails to Ellie and she responded both times within 48 hrs...

Please PLEASE make a thread with ridiculous customer quotes for us all to enjoy :D

Ah why didn't I think of that with that War & Peace piece I had just posted?

What a great idea for a Survive! related Wall-of-Shame :D

Do you want to be the High Sparrow? ;)

I suggest Ellie hires me to do remote CS. I promise I can handle any level of verbal abuse and I will work for store credit [emoji846]

In my reading, the only thing about "purchasing another's spot in line" that S!K has mentioned was a comment Ellie made saying "she wanted no part of it" and saying folks could work it out themselves and she would change the shipping address.

We should be nice to eachother and especially be nice to Guy and Ellie, there's no need or excuse to be a butt head, BUT I've seen way way worse directed at SURVIVE! over the last few years. I don't think this week's comments are going to close down the shop.

I wouldn't think so, either. I'm probably guilty of fanning the fire with my comments so I'll keep it to myself.

This isn't North Korea... we should be able to speak freely as long as we're being cool about it. I've had to bite my tongue a whole lot in the last week, but if you have something worthwhile, let it rip!

Keep in mind the Monday's are for seconds and the buying a spot idea was born of the potential of a person wanting out of thier preorder so a first.

Well, we do have a self-appointed leader with links to the divine who considers himself the great protector of virtue and morality who is quick to banish people from the lands when he believes they have spoken out against that which is beyond all criticism...
