Sven saw

There's not much ignorance when its coming from a person that plants and saws and chops trees dam near everyday of my life . I think sometimes alot of people here put way to much stock in gear over technique. Sometimes there is a easy solution ,no need to complicate sawing down a tree is all I'm saying . Like I say go grab a craftsman ,,,,NO MAN JUST NO. Haha

We like expertise here and respect it. As I said though, the ultimate challenge is the compromise of functionality with compactness and light weight. A lot of guys I know simply don't have the convenience of toting a Craftsman saw on their pack.

:DI get it . Didn't know my go grab a craftsman who cause such a stir . Good way to pass a night I guess. I will try to be more serious in the future .

I actually default to my Husky chainsaw around the farm. I guess I owe you an apology, spydusse, because my original intent on reviewing saws is much deeper than my own personal preferences on the farm. We actually do some work for various folks to test gear for various situations. That's where this saw test is coming in.

Jeff ... any chance you'll be including the Sawvivor in your testing ?

Aaa dam chainsaws half the time they don't work and lugging that wieght around not worth it. My boss is too cheap to buy any new ones ,might change my mind

absolutely

So, how about that Sawvivor. :D

I kind of look at it like this: if I'm going to the woods to set up deer stands or something and I might need to cut a few limbs or something, I'll take a folding saw. If I'm just out hiking and might cut down a little fire wood, folding saw still works great.

If there is a chance I'm going to be cutting any serious amount of wood or larger wood, I'd rather have something I can get 2 hands on. And I don't mean 2 hands holding it like a lightsaber.

Why just because I want a throwing shovel makes me childish ;). 27 seen a lot done a lot , listen if u want mw to be more serious just say so no need to be so condescending in ur last to posts address towards me.

yes.....jk....man lighten up....relax..no one here is trying to be rude...just trying to understand where your coming from....understand why you say the things you do...

I don't know what else you want from me ? I've started punctuatuing ,cause I know that's important for you. I went to fotki.com to figure out how reduce my picture size, cause I know that's important to you. You just like to jump on me. Did you really need to close my thread yesterday? I figured like myself,a lot of people don't go to that forum and it would get more hits here. I figured I could handle some esee s I might be interested in and other people might want to handle mine to see if there interested. In seeing previous pictures from NJKCA meetings I saw no esee's and wanted to get some esee knives there.

I guess the way I write comes across with angst ,that everyone keeps telling me to lighten up. I'm chill man . I. Don't mean to come across angry . I think the problem is people being too serious.

I think in this thread all anyone was asking was some background on why you opinion is what it is.....just a suggestion....if you would have included some of you expereince with the initial (rant), it wouldn't have been looked at as a rant but an informed opinion...thats not to say everyone would agree with you...but no one here would blast you for your opinion...

Spydusse,

I'm really not trying to be rude at all but you seem very excitable sometimes. Maybe you might think about chanigng your screen name to Excitable Boy. I'm sure Warren Zevon wouldn't mind ;)

I don’t think anyone takes anything too seriously around here for the most part.

This thread is about take-down saws. You came in talking about how thes pack saws were a piece of junk Craftsman bowsaw is better than a Sven or Wyoming although you never said you had any experience with either of these to compare their quality. At cutting, it probably is, but what it lacks is portability and a design to make it as compact or light as possible, which is the intention of these packable saws. Dizwolf on here has lashed a 30” bowsaw and a full size axe to his pack before. No doubt those tools are the best in their class, but a saw that doesn’t fit in to a pack can’t really be compared to a take-down saw because they were designed with two different goals in mind. One, to be most effective at cutting and the other to be a good compromise between cutting ability and ease of packing it with you.

When mention was made of this, you came in guns-a-blazing talking about how stupid these saws were and how a regular bowsaw would work better and talking about all the experience you have with saws. It WOULD work better, but we’re not just comaring bowsaws to bowsaws, this is a comparison of TAKE-DOWN, PACKABLE, saws.
