Swamp Rat battle guard

I've seen some pretty good forums turn to cannibalism where the old eat the new, and everybody starts chewing on everybody. . . . That my friends is NOT going to happen here. . . We don't jump folks for asking questions and we sure don't jump folks for expressing their opinions.

I have always stood in dumbfounded awe of the HOGs for their tireless patience, encouragement, and willingness to educate and inform the new guys. Let's continue to hold the highest standards on both the Busse and Swamp Rat forums. Behave as gentlemen or please refrain from posting.

In the end, we're all knife lovers who should thank our lucky stars that we have found others who share in our mental illness!!! :D

As for Busse Combat vs. Swamp Rat. . . I will tell you this. . . If Swamp Rat really was Busse Combat's competition instead of a gateway drug to INFI. . . I probably wouldn't get much sleep. . . .With differentially treated SR-101 blades that should cost hundreds more than they do, and that can smoke ANY other would be competitiors at nearly any price point, I still thank God everyday that we are on the same team. . .

Let's keep it that way. . . .on the same team.

I really think that if you look at it objectively, as I have, that you will agree that the blame for this entire issue should be placed exactly where it has always been placed. . . . .

I BLAME PORKERSON ! ! ! !

Nuke on my wayward HOGs & RATs!!!!!

Greg, just owning 1 busse makes you a qualified Hog

Owning one Rat makes you a Rat as well, so how many hogs can claim to not be Rats?

I have to admit I am a Pig first and a Rat second, and if you ask my wife, she would agree.
Sounds like the elusive Hoggrat, a cross speces known to be ill tempered, especially in the presence of certain cutlery. Likely to stampede at the slightest inclination especially at the phrase "limited production". Use extreme caution when near these beasts, especially at what is commonly referred to as the trough and/or nest. The large tuskers have been known to battle for hours over the select morsels of slop. Another indicator of this speces is the call. SQUOINK! :p

Sleep well. Ten Rats (eight that I still proudly own) and I ordered the Hell Razor today... my first INFI.

I am! but I am waiting to see that bad boy put up for sale!
I hope it doesn't cost too much, because I need a FBM! I would crap my pants if they were made available at the same time. ;)

Gentlemen

I am truly sorry that I have started all this.
I deleted the post ASAP.
I did not know that this was a sensitive subject. I thought that the two knife companies where business partners and that many of the users of these knives had things in common. The reason for me posting the question here was that I was welcomed with my first post in this forum and felt like I would get good sound advice from its members. I also did not se that there was a Swamp rat forum. I normally post in the general knife discussion.
Thank you for the link to the right thread the Swamp rat forum, I asked my question there and got an answer.

Cheers,

Hey, it really is no big deal. Nobody should have jumped down your throat in the first place. Pretty much everyone here is very nice.
As Jerry said, they are more than just business partners, Swamp Rat is the Gateway Drug for Busse addiction.

I for one want you to continue to participate in both forums.
Good luck obtaining your latest pig sticker. I hope you will have some cool hunting photos to share once you use it.(assuming you are getting one);)

G’day Andre,

They are… and they have. ;):D

I have a few of both and wouldn’t part with either. :p

Just for the record, I’ll be greasing up the mouse and going after one of those pretty guarded Battle Rats. :D
Ian.

Please dont judge us all by a few who's "time of the month" :p causes some harsh words. Normally, questions can be asked about either knife on either forum and an answer can be had either way. We're normally a laid back community of like minded folk discussing a wide range of topics, some not or only slightly involving Busse knives.

I dont wanna have a zealots knife forum :( I wanna Busse Hogs knife forum! :D or at least a Hoggrats mud filled ratsnest. :foot:

A week or so ago I was "jumped" for expressing my opinion and I was not too keen on the responses I received. As a newbie I expect a little harrassment but some of the things posted by the old guard (yep, I said old guard) seemed a little harsh. I can roll with the punches though, not a big deal. My point is that all this stuff is not that serious. Hogs, Rats, it is not that big a deal that we need to get bent out of shape. This is about purchasing, discussing and appreciating high quality knives. If I am off base here somebody let me know. This is just my 2 pennies.

It seems more like you were jumped by the jingoistic "New Guard".

The "Old Guard" will pretty much grab whatever suits the situation at hand, be it Busse, Basics, or Swamp Rat.

If it comes from Wauseon, it will get the job done.

Hard to judge that when everything is kept pristine in a safe. Show us pics of your users before talking smack. Got anything with missing finish or, other than factory edge? The few here that actually USE both, seldom, if ever have any negatives about either.

Yup, the first Rat was a Busse. Performance at a more reasonable price point for people with skinnier wallets. So what? Ever broken one? Didn't think so.

Jerry came up with a good combo, SR-101 and Res-C. Gave it to Jennifer and told her to run with it. She did.

Why the urge to dump on Jerry's wife? For doing something right? THAT really pisses me off. I seriously doubt, if it had a front talon hole, you could tell the difference in any steels coming out of Wauseon.

In a safe, they only perform in your mind.

Rob
