Swamp Rat battle guard

Why the urge to dump on Jerry's wife? For doing something right? THAT really pisses me off.

Hear, hear. Some of the responses this thread got were reminiscent of the old Strider and Mad Dog days--not an indictment of either company, just of the loudmouthed little keyboard commandoes that used to populate their forums and jump on anybody who brought up another brand or asked an honest question. I find it extremely disappointing to find this type of garbage here, and even more so from old timers who ought to know better.

Edit to add: 500jefferyDK, you didn't do a single thing wrong.

That's hilarious, Rob! I may have to add THAT as a new sig line!

Nice post!

I just gotta say, I THOUGHT my .45-70 was a thumper.

LOL A guy that shoots a .500 Jeffrey is more old school than I am, and, with a bigger 'thumper' to boot. LOL

Wot the 'ell is that thing that looks like a Rat with a Hogs snout and sharp fur? A new, common, logo?

That would work for a sig line. LOL It just seems that the users are either in OZ, Canada, or the NW of the U.S. Not a hard and fast rule, but it seems the more remote, the more use involved.

Just sort of an observation.

Rob

Geeze people lighten up! This was all a big nothing in my mind! For crying out loud we've got brothers in harms way in the sand box right now!

Bravado, if I ever bump into you at Blade or anywhere else, I'm going to buy a drink, NO, two drinks!

That be the Hoggrat, I believe Ratfinkenstien birthed that abomination that seems to typify those of us who have knives from both companies. :D

Northwest! How about South? We got some pretty worn INFI down here and over there too! ;)

The .500 Jeffery is a wonderfull hog stopper they drop like rain drops when hit.
This is my rifle and a hog that I killed with it. I also make my own bullets for the .500 Jeffery.

Cheers,

André

Wow, do you turn those bullets from copper, or are they jacketed lead?

That looks like a nice Winchester model 70. I have a similar Super Express in .375 H&H that is potent medicine on Wapiti. I can only imagine how it would work on a hog.

I think that's a Heym unless I'm very mistaken.

Great setup, and nice to see an old-school caliber bouncing somebody around! I have a 458 Lott that is still waiting to be blooded (bruising me doesn't count). A friend and I had tried putting together an overseas hunt a few years ago, but it didn't work out. Hadn't thought about boars...

The rifle is NOT a Winshester but a Heym Express made by Heym waffenfabriks custom shop in Gernmany.

I also have a Winshester in .375 H&H mag. this is my pre 64 supergrade from 1949 that I refinished the stock on myself.

PS I have the original weawer scope and the Griffin and Howe side mounth but that was not what I needed when I set this rifle up to hunting buck in Scotland last year. I know the big scope is UGLY :D

Cheers,

André

WOW you sure know your weapons:thumbup:
I use my .500 for all the game I can :D owerkill I know but you need to practice with a big bore like that and the real deal is better then the range.

I have some "light" 370 grn bullets that do not expand so you can kill small game without destrying the meat.

The bullets are pure copper and some I make like the Barnes with a square hole in the middle.

The big ones are my cup point solid 1. design.(The cup is now .375")

I am way of topic here :o :o :D Sorry

Cheers,

André

I read that Elmer Keith's wife used a 375 H&H on everything she shot, on down to whitetails, antelope, what have you. With the solid bullets you actually end up with much less meat destruction that a 243, 308 or 30-30 would deliver with expanding bullets will yield. I like to bring up that 90 pound lady whenever people complain about recoil. :D Some nice bullets you're turning out there!

Yaeh, Yeah, Yeah. . . Beautiful gun. . . .Awesome bullets. . . but come on guys. . .check out the booze he has in the background!!!!! . . . Now we're talkin' about something to behold!!!!! :D

Nothing personal, but all of this rat chat is getting REALLY OLD.:thumbdn:

Seems that what is getting really old is the negativity and attitude that your posts seem to have taken on. We've been through this before.

If you mean your comments tongue-in-cheek, MAKE IT APPARENT!! People are not mind readers. They have to take what they see at it's apparent tone.

If you have a problem reading posts about Rat knives, don't read them. It is that simple.

The confrontationalism is to stop.

Now, who all is goin to show up Thursday at Blade??

Gentlemen

I am truly sorry that I have started all this.
I deleted the post ASAP.
I did not know that this was a sensitive subject. I thought that the two knife companies where business partners and that many of the users of these knives had things in common. The reason for me posting the question here was that I was welcomed with my first post in this forum and felt like I would get good sound advice from its members. I also did not se that there was a Swamp rat forum. I normally post in the general knife discussion.
Thank you for the link to the right thread the Swamp rat forum, I asked my question there and got an answer.

Cheers,

André

Andre, ask away. If we can't answer it, we can usually point you to where you can find the answer.

Sweet pix man.

You noticed that also, eh? I'm very partial to Appy Res myself.

Serious business setup, that rifle.

Nice stuff all the way around.

I knew there was something different about the trigger bow, but couldn't place my finger on it. Afterwards, I had decided it looked more like a Parker-Hale. I'm glad I didn't go with that guess.

You guys and your upscale hootch puzzle me. I like a snort as well as the next guy but I'm too cheap to spend big bucks on it.
