Swapped for beadblasted Sebenza Pins & Screws. Awesome!

The first pic is labeled as a "before" pic, just to show the difference between finishes. As for the beveled edge, it's possible your sebe is a few years older than mine. I've recently seen a couple older sebenzas that had totally different edges. An '03 & '04 I believe. Mine is an '08.

So you're not crackin up, i think. Unless of course you're still confused ; )

Okay, so I get the date thing but I am still cracking up I think. The two pics I quoted both look like bead blasted hardware but they have allen drives on both sides. It doesn't matter but I think I am going nuts:D

yeah, that is just how they make them now. When i first bought installed them i thought i might have to tighten them while holding in both ends (which was annoying) but you dont. They work just like the other screws did. The Pins (which have the alan shaped whole) are just like the flat part of the other Pins.

You're good man... no crazyness for you.;)

Hi everyone, please let me introduce myself, as I am still pretty new to the forum. What a great resource this place is!

Getting back on topic, I have absolutely fallen in love with a Small Sebenza 21 that I purchased on the exchange, and this seems like a terrific modification.

So, quick question: Chadridv, did you get the pocket clip screw bead blasted also, or is it already that way from the factory?

I am looking at my Sebenza, and the pocket clip screw appears to have a duller finish than the other three polished pins and screws. However, I do not know if it is already bead blasted, or whether it should be ordered that way in order to best match the bead blasted finish on the other three screws and pins. I guess that would make this a $28 modification (4x $1 screws, 3x $8 pins) rather than a $27 modification (3x $1 screws, 3x $8 pins).

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! and congrats on your new 21.

To answer your question simply. The entire set of pins and screws costs $27, and that includes the clip screw. Which also means that it is also factory bead blasted by CRK.

For $5-6 i would also highly recommend the lanyard pin if your knife doesn't already have one.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions.

Wow, thanks very much for the quick and informative answer!

Thanks also for the lanyard pin suggestion. Oddly enough, my 21 did come with the new lanyard pin, but was without a lanyard . I guess whoever bought the knife new lost it.

I may go ahead and order a lanyard from CRK at the same time that I get the bead blasted hardware. I am also considering ordering a set of the new perforated phosphor bronze washers, since my knife appears to be one of the last small 21's to get the regular washers ("birth date" 4/15/2010).

Does anyone happen to know how much the lanyard or the perforated washers cost from CRK?

No problem! happy to help.

If not free, I can't imagine the lanyard being very expensive. In fact if they charge you for it, send me a private message and i'll send you an extra one of mine.

I actually prefer to use a small piece of 550 paracord which is a bit thicker and more durable than the one CRK provides, but either way i have extra of both.

As for the washers, I am 99% sure you would have to send your knife into CRK to have those fitted. I'm pretty sure the new washers only fit with a different (larger) pivot bushing, there for needing something drilled out for their use. (i think) oh, and I'm pretty sure it's about an $8 upgrade.

Anyhow keep us all updated!

To me, the appropriate screw head finish depends on the knife. Even on a plain jane (so to speak) Sebbie, I don't care much for the bead blast.

I had an old set of bead blasted screws and did a satin finish on them. Turned out great! Looked better that the bead blast and high polished. :D

Well just got my order confirmation back from Heather. The new bead blasted screws and lanyard pin are going out today!

Thanks Chad for all the info...

No problem! Make sure to add pics when you get them!

I know this is an old thread but I'm very interested in the BB screws for my new sebenza. I contacted CRK and they said they only have one finish for their screws. Polished. Do you think they stopped making these?

I believe the bead blasted screws are aftermarket modifications. Google Solosknifereviews, he might be able to help you.

That's what I had thought but a couple people on this thread are saying they got them directly from CRK

Wow. I didn't even know they stopped selling the blasted ones.
I'm glad I bought three sets of the blasted ones before they stopped.

I like the look of satin or blasted. I do my own.

To satin the screws I use a small scotch brite wheel on my Dremmel, the ones pictured are bead blasted. I have a small cabinet for the bead blasting work.
