Sweet-looking Knife: Kizlyar Sterkh

Got a bit lost in reading the translation but it looks very good. Wonder what the steel is? It's probably in there somewhere but I missed it.

I have two KIZLYAR fixed blades, SOBOL and TEREK2

These are not tacticals but are weighty and VERY WELL finished hunting and outdoor knives. The scales are Caucasian walnut, brass pins and lanyard holes, mirror polished stainless that seems to sharpen alright. The sheathes are of exceptional weight and thickness, they must have some boss machines for working that thick hide!

KIZLYAR seem to have an enormous range including some very nice looking folders(even Damascus steel) and fighting knives, swords and ornamental knives.I've been surprised by the quality and feel. They have a website in English operating from Australia. One in Germany www.kizlyar.de good pics and the owner Jenni Doepgen speaks/writes good English and is very helpful. As with other things Russian, the supply can suddenly be erratic so if you like the look of something, then I advise buy it quick you never know... I think worldknives.com in the US has a range of them too including a giant Bear Hunting knife:D

Well worth a look for something unusual and exotic.

I think I read somewhere also in Messerforum that the steel is an equivalent of D2? The exposed butt is also a handy feature.

It looks like a nice knife, but after converting the prices from a few sites, I believe it is priced out of my league for what it is. From what I've gathered, the Kizlyar Sterkh 2 would easily be over $100.

Love the computer translations... that's hilarious.

interesting knife, and nice pics, too.

Hi,
i give you some information about the steel we use for the sterkh.
Normally we use Z60 steel and X12MF .

Here is the Link to the steel charts i have in my Forum in messerforum.net
http://www.messerforum.net/showpost.php?p=289357&postcount=2

and here in this Thread our technical advisor ausjulius explained about it .

The blades of the X12Mf sterkh are sharpen by hand only by one of the employees of Kizlyar. He can sharpen the angle perfectly in 20 degrees :) .

@ willgoy , hey thanks, but my english need some more perfection :D , but with the knives you are complete right, i never know will we get them in the next year too.

You truly don't know me from dirt. I simply did't like your characterization of my country. I don't want you banned. I'm just not giving the company you represent any of my money. To seperate money and politics. Hmm. Give it a go. Good luck.

As to whether I was going to buy a knife or not, well, I think these people know that I am a person of my word, and an avid knife collector.

I just thought you guys should know where your money is going. That was done out of well intended, patriotic, motovations.

I was going to buy one, then I read post #10 in this thread:
