turning prisons into knife factories!? lol
thats insane!
turning prisons into clothign factories,,that is insane

..
knife factories,, and prisons. make ssence to me. who else knovws knives better.
anywya, they are realy not so common now in russia as the chepa chinese knives and cheap russian knives are being made, and the prison "artists" can just not compeat, also new post soviet government clamped down on prison factories and such,, .. already in the 80s they were mostly gone, anyway many were illegaly run by the guards,, workshops not factories,\
in most countries there is prison factories...
but soviet union seems unique is that they mad eknvies in there ,.. there was big prison wars in the 40s and 50s after ww2 between old theives and new theives.. or convicts who have served in prison batalions in ww2......
these new theives when back and co-operated wihtt he state, and so began thier work for the state.. working mkaing products,,, and toher tasks..
the old theives refused,, and so the two "plolitical" groups split,, the old thieves killed the new theives for joining the state and the new theives kille dhte old for killing them, the camp guards didnt do much to stop the fights.. some on a large scale.. also at this time there was big fights between the politicals and the "new thieves" who were put in with political prisoners by the state.. to basicaly ,, push them around. .. the politicals began forming their own groups,,, to defend them selves, .. these disputes led to several large scale revolts in the prisons.. ,, largest as int he 50s in kazakhstan,, ...
both politicals and new theives made knvies for the state.. and for the prison guards and for illegal sale......
this developed into a whole prison industry.. as inmates wanted alittle $ to buy things and this work brang them it..
slowly the old thieves lost and were replaces with a less structured criminal network,, relying more on profits and political infulence than ok criminal guile and the "theives" code........
still prison knvies are made today... not a big thing though......
ive not seen them ever for sale. i think inmates may make them for guards or such, a friends uncle was in prison for some time and became actulay very good at making small sheffeild style slipjoints.. .
which is odd as normaly they are more unconventional...........
