In carbon footprint. Apparently the Victorinox manufacturing process with its many recycling procedures and environmentally friendly power sourcing leaves your swiss army knife with a carbon footprint equaling a slice of toast. Pretty epic if you ask me. I have always been a huge fan of the swiss army knife and I carry one every single day (Victorinox Tinker Small), so this is just another reason to love the company and product.

Here is the video explaining how:

Enjoy!

I'm no eco-weenie, but you have to give them credit for all of that. I think it was only possible due to being family-owned, otherwise, how would you have justified such expenses to shareholders over the years?

So wait a minute... Victorinox produces amazing fit and finish at an outstanding price point with a lifetime warranty AND they're this environmentally friendly?

They were already up there in the ranks, but I think they may have just become my favorite manufacturer.

All while being extremely good to their employees with great pay and benefits. Just one of those things listed above is tough to say in this economic environment, so for Victorinox to be able to say all of those things at once, is down right amazing. There are a lot of American manufacturing companies that could learn a thing or two from them.

If I could only have be knife, it would be my Vic Farmer.

Excellent company. Excellent manufacturing. Excellent quality control. Excellent products at excellent prices. Excellent service centers. Excellent customer service.

Not surprised their modern manufacturing achieves such eco-friendly coexistence.

And here I thought you were going to put your SAK in the toaster!

Great video although it seems like a dreadful place to work. Just look at that pile of rocks behind it!

Very cool, why don't we see more of this kind of business model, is there any company in this country that follows the same philosophy to anywhere near that degree?

So when I accidentally burn my toast, does the burned part increase the carbon footprint, even if I scrape it off? :D

I do love my Victorinox knives. The SAK Cadet is pretty much the only thing I carry any more.

carbon footprint

Plants breathe in carbon dioxide, just like we need oxygen. I wonder why Victorinox is trying to suffocate the world's plants by limiting its carbon dioxide output (a.k.a. "carbon footprint"). Oh well. Maybe they don't like plants in Switzerland.

I agree. I'm not against taking care of the planet, but I'm getting sick of global warming, climate change, now climate disruption.......all to redistribute the wealth.

That aside, I love Victorinox, and their products.

I was just trying to make a funny. That was a pretty cool video, and I like how they are reclaiming the metal from the effluent.

Which has nothing to do with Victorinox. They're simply being good stewards. It's a shame more of us aren't.

Right, but this was the OPs point of the thread. :) Hey, it's the cool thing to do, I get it.

It's the right thing to do.

I've always been impressed with Victorinox. They seem like they have their S well in order.
