Going with the S&M today-- real pocketworn, wormgroove, green bone goodness.

Great looking camel bone Forest Jacks! That purple looks great, and the green looks vintage or like an antique!

Oh, nice.

Did you remove the "rustic" etching at the spine from both blades?

~ P.

Yes, I did, Sarah. IMO the camel bone was too classy for the rustic look so I polished them up. They still have a bit of roughness to them because the underlying steel wasn't sanded (ground down) so there's visible tool marks, pits, and deformations. I think it strikes a good balance. :D

Thanks for the comments, burnside. The "purple" one was actually listed as black on the dealer's website; I don't know if there actually was two different colors available or if it just looked that way to the dealer. It could be purple for all I know...but there's some nice brown hues that show up in sunlight. When I look at the green one a single word comes to mind: "moss." I hope there's more camel bone available on the upcoming Northwoods releases; I know the Bullet Jack recently appeared sporting orange or green bone.

Found this one in the basement about a month ago, it was rusted shut, covered with paint and it looked like whoever owned it before used it to open paint cans and chipped the blade.

I wish I woulda took pics before I cleaned it up but I honestly thought it was so bad it was gonna be a parts knife boy was I wrong, after some extensive cleaning and regriding the blades, this is what I found a gem of a Jack, what do you think? Graef & Schmidt Smooth Bone Jack, probably mid to late 40s.

Excellent find, and awesome that it has been revived. I need to go find an old basement to dig around in.
