A certain knife dealer sent me an email as I'm on their list with the title "Never forget" leading into a sale for 9/11 today. Not only did I find this incredibly tacky but incredibly disrespectful. I contacted the company to let them know I will no longer order from them. They are a big retailer also and I've done a lot of business with them in the past.

Anyone else get bothered by this today?

Maybe rewrite this.

You put yourself on a list with a sales pitch 'Never Forget' and you are offended that they tried to sell you something? On 9/11?

Or were you on a list titled 'Never Forget' and they thought you wanted a piece of memorabilia, that happened to be offered today...er on 9/11?

I agree, that’s terrible

I might be wrong but I read it like this, after adding some commas:

A certain knife dealer sent me an email, as I'm on their list, with the title "Never forget" leading into a…

*edited to add that I received the same email.

If I'm reading it correctly yo mama was signed up to a knife dealers email list. So he can receive their promotional emails (when he signed up for the email list it had nothing to do with 9/11) and today received an email from said knife dealer where they were using 9/11 to sell knives. Which is wack.

This is how I understood the OP. I also received a flyer, most likely from the same dealer.

Mitchnola might have the same thoughts as I do regarding this.

Disrespectful? YES. Tacky?YES. Some businesses are just opportunistic. I am not surprised by what someone will sell! I am surprised by what someone will buy. Perhaps they should have a lesson in business etiquette.

I wouldn’t put a lot of energy into this. Someone thought it was a good idea at one point. Just like pumpkin spice!

What they should’ve done (don’t know if they are or not, I don’t even know who the dealer is),
Is take the money from the sales made on 9/11 and donate it to first responders in NYC or something of that nature, if they really wanted to help people

Absolutely, 100%. If they sold a special edition of a rescue/trauma knife from a good maker, with Steve Siller’s relevant dates on it, or an honorable reference to the 343 on it and sold it with all profits going to Tunnels to Towers (or a related organization), I would absolutely buy one.

As it stands, that was a really lousy move on their part. They will be getting a very similar email from me today. I’m just sorry that I didn’t see their email yesterday, because I was too busy with work, and partaking in my department’s own 911 memorial.
