What puzzles me is, were they the buyers of KF?

I'm not saying the TF people did wrong, but they seemed to have grabbed up close to all of KF. There's a duplicate "Filipino Combat Arts" to match Donna's here. They've even got Stryder knives, Steve Harvey on a General forum, Hilton Yam joined up...if KF comes back somehow it'll have to be rebuild from scratch.

Again, with KF hard-down none of these people did wrong but...I'm just wondering what's next?

Hey...who's missing here? Microtech, that's who! And Ty. Hmmmm...Mike, you SURE they didn't buy KF?

Jim

Ewok asked:
Isn't TF owned by MD?
Exactly. And that should answer the previous questions.

Microtech did not buy KFC. We are looking at opening a MT forum here with Sean (Valmet) and possibly Ty moderating.

As long as Ty Stratford isn't the moderator. I'm not trying to start anything, but he's not a fair moderator like we have here. But hey, life isn't fair. -AR

Ty isn't so bad, I think he's changed his colors quite a bit. Just my $.02

Micro-Tech was one of the last forums that I would visit at KF.C before the close. I hope we get it NO MATTER what.
Lets be honest. Micro-Tech has been dragged around through alot of mud around here also. The MT threads are rivaled only by the MD threads. We can't rag on Ty if we don't line up alot of others. Lets open up the bandwidth to these guys, it will be GREAT.
I'm sure most wouldn't mind an MT on the front page of these forums
smile.gif

I think we can get along with Ty and MT. The only possible glitch would be re-opening a "special secret high-end-collectors-only forum"...I'm not actually against it, but it was controversial when it opened.

Perhaps a better answer would be to flat-out tell people that if you go into the MT forum to mock people into spending $1,200+ on a high end piece, we'll boot their dumb tail ends clean off the whole board
smile.gif
. That WAS happening, it was a rather rude thing to do and resulted in the "invite only password version" of the MT forum on KF.

Mike, I can see merit in the "special area" or not, as you see fit. Ty isn't bad people.

Hi everyone!
smile.gif

I have a few answers here for inquiring minds.
wink.gif
wink.gif
First off, MT did not buy KFC. Additionally, they never asked to buy it either. Earl closed KFC to move onto other things, as he was getting tired of the whole thing. OK, OK, you'll say "What about Mad Dog and Tactical Forums???" Well, that happened AFTER his decision was already made, BUT IMHO it only further solidified in his mind that selling/closing KFC was the Best Thing to do. Sure, BFC was and is (definitely now!) getting a lot more traffic than KFC did, but as you know, Earl also has young children that he needs to take care of, and having KFC up and running was getting to be too much to do.
wink.gif

Secondly, the Mad Dog Tactical Forums, well, I really don't know too much about them, so I guess everyone will have to make their own decisions on that one.
wink.gif

Jim, anybody who requested a PSSWD for the VIP/Collector's/Super Secret/Elite/I can't think of all the other names that people used to call it Forum
wink.gif
, got one. I ended up closing the Collector's Forum myself before KFC closed, and my plan was to merge all the threads into the regular MT Forum. Additionally, we were going to have multiple Mods on the regular MT Forum on KFC. The Collector's Forum was originally created for some of the reasons mentioned here, BUT, things kind of got out of hand towards the end, as things digressed into personal issues between various forum members. We tried the experiment, but it didn't turn out as planned. Additionally, it got kind of lame for me to have to put out all the little fires started by people who liked to flame me and the Collector's Forum.
wink.gif
The BFC MT Forum, that Mike is speaking of here, wouldn't require any PSSWDs, and I am positive that neither I, Mike, Ty, Spark, or anyone else here, has ever contemplated another Collector's Forum, BUT if you want to take a crack at it Jim...- just kidding

Thank you Lucky Dog, Jim and Mike.

I'm sorry if there were some issues that my Admin job at KFC caused me to get tangled in, but they were most always in keeping with the spirit of keeping the discussion on topic.

Those rules, I'll admit, on occasion caused it to get a little stiff and seemingly unfriendly, and for any folks that went away with a bad taste in their mouth because of me...I'm sorry. Still, my little MT forum was one of the best places for anyone to come over and stay current about Microtech products. If you were watching, and wanted to LEARN, you know that's true! We had the LOWEST amount of problems right THERE of any forum on KFC!! We can have such a place right here...

Add to that the "exclusive", behind-the-scenes articles that I KNOW you guys liked, and that Microtech forum (personalities aside) was a great success...even without a company person in there...just me.

Sure, at times, I had to unfortunately put on my other hat (of Admin) and remove some problems...but that is not for KFC only. It happens here too. (sometimes even with the same people!!) It, unfortunately is a necessary function on ANY BBS. The Admins here know EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

Sean and I thought it would be interesting to return to what the old MT forum was all about on KFC. The "collector's forum" was an admitted mistake, but it had a good start and great intentions...it just turned into what we were trying to avoid. (while the old MT forum really smoked! Go figure?)

You can ask the real MT folks around ALL the forums, as I am a straight shooter and I know my stuff. I try to tell it like it is, and sometimes a lot of that is before anyone ELSE knows it, which is a key asset to have on your side indeed.

Again, forgive me if I've insulted anyone...geez, now upwards of 3/4's of a year ago, when I was Earl's "hammer", but I don't have that role anymore. (Please understand that there is a difference between a moderator and a site adminstrator)... I'm sure Mike will back me up on this, and sometimes you just cannot please everyone!

Now, I've never been paid for what I did there, which was totally FINE with me...as I have always done it simply for the love of MT knives. Period. I did it my spare time. In case you don't know about me, I'm a software engineer for Intel Corporation. I live in Portland, Oregon. (the computer, however, doesn't care how far away I am
smile.gif
)

Hey, YOU FOLKS decide about this! I don't want to come over here, if I'm not wanted...and BFC is run by it's members...so YOU let me know. I think you'll see some highly kewl stuff, but it's up to YOU!

I still have a great relationship with Tony, and can promise some good info, articles, news, and "rumor control"...combined with MT "firsts". Trust me, there's stuff that's coming from Microtech that is going to BLOW you all away.

Ya know, Tony never ceases to create awe, and the stuff that is now on the design board is so unbelievable that even I just don't know how he continues to do it over and over again.

NOW...you put Sean and I together, and look out, boys and girls!! BFC will have the hottest MT forum going!! Just like in the "old days". THAT I CAN PROMISE

I'll admit, I'm biased.

I have NO experience with this, or any other, knife forum prior to 5-6 months ago. So, the only Ty I know is the exuberant fellow who posted above. And folks who peruse the Automatic Knife Forum have seen Sean's posts.

As far as I'm concerned, Sean and Ty did a kickass job over at KFC. No reason to think they'd do any less of a job here at BFC, and I for one think it'd be great to have them working the MT forum here.

'Nuff said

I met Ty and like the man. I sure it's not an easy task being a moderator never mind an administrator. I dont' have his expensive taste in MT's but wish I can afford it.
wink.gif

I also wish Earl well. He is facing some challenging times. He got his priorities straight and has stepped up to the plate and stepped back from others, like KF. God's speed.

I think the MT forum would be a great addition. We couldn't get any worse flaming than we have now, which is reasonably tolerable.

MT forums will end up somewhere they would be best served here. Lets do it. Also I think that if you have been to KF in the past you will agree that the new forum sure looks like the old one risen from the ashes but now MD should have total control over what is said there. But it will serve the needs of the members of the chuch of tactical truth. When Kathy Longs kickboxing page fails there can we bring her over here?

Certainly sounds like it deserves a try.

Jury is going to be out for a long time on TFC. I wish them all the luck in the world, have my ID set up, the page bookmarked, and plan on visiting occasionally, as I did KFC.

Meanwhile, MT couldn't choose a better new home for their forum than BFC. I'm looking forward to welcoming them.

Let's all welcome Ty and Sean into the fold; these guys will be a great asset here.

One thing that does concern me is flaming from those who don't share our love for MTs, it happens now in the auto forum. So I propose a truce between MT lovers and our detractors, we won't flame your knives if you won't flame ours. I even own a few Daltons and Paragons.

Also maybe you guys, Ty & Sean can answer a question, will there be a resurrection of KFC, did anyone buy it or is it now officially gone?

Hi Ty,
Good to hear from you, It is probably already a given that you will be over here. It would be foolish not to have you Ty, You are the Microtech man!

I too once was not too happy with Ty as he yanked a thread of mine and never told me he was going to yank it. But, Ty--who I had the pleasure of meeting in Atlanta is a real nice guy and he has a great sense of humor.

Okay so you were the bully at the KFC, but hell I think everyone can let by gons be by gons. (Did I spell that right) Maybe not exactly the bully, more like the parent of the forums who went around disciplining folks. WHACK, WHACK, WHACK. I guess you were like a harsh, abusive father.

Ty, to tell you the truth I think you were more like the Catholic nuns who would beat kids on the hands with those sticks. Those are my memories. I have emotional scars from those days at KFC under your authoriti you know. I am still in therapy and counceling for the deeds done to me at KFC by TY.

Okay folks I couldn't resist spoofing on Ty. Truthfully, I think very highly of the man.
