What do you have to lose, except all of the MT traffic. I'm going through MT info withdraw. Why wouldn't you want Ty and Sean to moderate this thing? I don't always agree with Spark, but I keep coming back.

EWOK, there is that 1 CA Special UDT.

Absolutely, especially since nobody's contemplating the "secret area" and it's controversy. I wasn't aware that the secrecy experiment was shut down already and was a non-issue.

A Microtech forum on Bladeforums? Sure!

Do it! Do it right! Do it right NOW!

I take Valmet's and Ty's post as a "yes". A yes to moderating a MT forum on BFC.

We are still looking into it. We need official word from Microtech and when we get the word we will go ahead.

The only thing is that Tony is not a net nerd by any means and he would most likely not actively participate. But of course Ty and Sean would make perfect moderators and there would only be one forum.

Also I will not tolerate the bickering crap that I saw on KFC. You can state your opinion on knives and there pricing but I am one of those people who buy high end autos too. Microtech sells to several different markets and yes they like to stay at the uper end of things. That is their niche folks and bitching that you can't buy a Microtech for $35 won't change anything
smile.gif

No matter what price point you are in you will find that people have a hard time spending more than necessary to get what they want. Even $35 is a high price to some, I know, I started WOW at a flea market 10 years ago!

I sold a Gil Hibben auto for $10,000! I have seen knives sell for over $100,000! It does happen, but just like art there is a buyer for everything, where there is a buyer there is a seller, or even a sucker
smile.gif

The difference between a buyer and a sucker is perspective, education or the sellers integrity.

So if we start the forum let's prove to ourselves that we can all work together in the same forum. No one is an elitist here. Are they overpriced? Who cares as long as they sell? If you think they are overpriced simply vote with your wallet and not your mouth

WELL SAID, Mike. Geez, if we'd have simply said that at the outset of the "bitching" wars over at KFC, we'd never have had a need for a second forum. Very nice stuff.

Ty

Well, I have never been known to have a vindictive streak.......but, what the Heck!

Ty comes on board : I bail out.
Ty's presence on the other forum was my reason to come here. He told me to go elsewhere and I did. It is only my opinion, but he acted very badly towards me and it was NOT as "Earl's hammer" It was PERSONAL
I have no illusions about our relative values to the forum....Ty has heaps more to offer.
So....bye, all. it was nice.

Brian, don't do that man, let it be water under the bridge. If I were to stay mad at everyone who pissed me off, I'd have to live in a cave.

I too had concerns and grave reservations about Ty coming on board, but let me tell you this from my experience:

When you are a board administrator and are forced to act as a hatchet man, it puts you in a differant mindset than you'd have as a normal poster, or even a moderator.

Ty and I talked about this at length today, and he understands that the kind of behavior that happened on KFC won't fly here, because neither I, or any of the members will put up with it. If, in the unlikely event it does happen, he'd be gone, just like any other moderator. We do not tolerate the moderators abusing members here, that much should be clear by now.

So, Brian, if you feel you must leave, I wish you the best, but I'm hoping that you will stay and see if there are any changes. If you have any problems with how he acts here, if he comes on board, please let me know.

Spark

Ahh Mike, ya still have that Ti Toy!

Brian, well, I don't know what happened between you and Ty, but people do change.
wink.gif
OK, here's a tale that EVERYONE HERE, including all my fellow Drama Junkies out there
wink.gif
, will love!
wink.gif
When I first came onto the scene, I butted heads with Ty, Earl, and Tom. After the initial clash, things got even more heated between Ty, myself, and Earl. I remember at one point I was entertaining the idea of flying to wherever to discuss things face to face with whoever.
wink.gif
I was even booted off the forums, but it only lasted about 30 minutes.
wink.gif
Well, we all know how things eventually turned out- we all became friends after we sorted out our differences, I was made Mod of the "MT Collector's Forum" a few months after, and latter on I was given an Admin role.
smile.gif
So my point is that people make mistakes and/or bad decisions, and people do change. IMHO, leaving or not participating in the forums because of something that happened with Ty a while back is kind of drastic, and I'm sure that if you talked to Ty now that both of you could work out any problems you had or have with him.
wink.gif

Well, Ty. I don't guess you had too many run-ins over there more heated than ours!
smile.gif

If I can get over it, anyone can. Why? Because I'm a vindictive, controlling, vociferous swine with a memory as long as a Cray computer and i hate to loose! No hard feelings. I hope to see you back on your own Forum.

HI Rich... Hey, at least we were civil, eh?

Spark is right. Being a hatchet man is no fun, but it was my job. Some people think it was personal, but it was NOT. I was following the owner's admonitions. Like I said... "you just can't please everyone"

Brian...I'm sorry if you think that our issues were solely ME. It was definitely a THREE-WAY decision, at the time. The two boards were very different in what they tolerated...and I was on the less-nice one.

I'm here to tell ya, if Rich L. and I can get along... ANYONE CAN
smile.gif
smile.gif
And that story about Valmet was true. We were going to kill each other, I believe...and then became the "MT Dynamic Duo" and great friends. That's just the deal. People seem to butt heads with other people that are MOST like themselves. Those SAME people often turn out to be your best buds, if you can just talk, and put water under the bridge.

I'm anxious to have a great MT forum here. Sorry Mike, I haven't an answer yet for you...but a definite game plan that I'm currently at this moment engaged in...and I'll let you know ASAP.

Hope to not lose anyone...as the real deal are the KNIVES... That we do well at...and I don't think I'd get any disagreement from a single person. I've spoken with Spark and Mike, and Rich L...HELL, He's NOTHIN'...if I can mend fences with THOSE TWO...ANYTHING is possible...right??
smile.gif

Let's just hope all works out. That's my goal...and you guys need to see the MT stuff, or soon withdrawal WILL set in. Trust me on that one.

Cheers,

Ty

I hope you'll stick around, too, Brian; you're a valuable member here. Of course no one on these forums has been exactly forced to take the job of hatchet man, or even paid to do it, but even so ... if they're not doing it any more ... well, we're all entitled to carry our grudges, and boycott forums, too ... but, boycott a whole website full of forums because you don't like the moderator of one of them? All I can say is I hope you decide not to.

On a tangential issue: if you happen to come across an interesting-looking restricted forum (approval of moderator required before you can join) somewhere on the net, it's usually restricted only because that forum had a problem with one troll (occasionally more than one) who kept coming back with a new identity every time he was banned. Sometimes restricted forums are restricted to a particular kind of people, knife dealers, cops, mothers of 2-year-olds, whatever, but very often they aren't, and if it doesn't say it's for some category of people you don't belong to (maybe even if it does say that but you're interested anyway) -- don't be scared off by having to get approval before you can join that forum -- usually approval is automatically granted as soon as they determine you aren't that troll who's been bothering them, and restricted forums are often about as free and open an environment for discussion as any moderated forum.

If you use an provider that can't or won't cooperate with efforts to stop spammers and other abusers, though, you'll find you can't get into many restricted forums and you're banned from many other parts of the net, too -- can't post to some newsgroups, can't send email to or through many providers.... Aol users have limited access to the net because the aol administrators don't always choose to be cooperative in dealing with spammers, secret police provocateurs, and other abusers, and if you use an anonymous email provider like hotmail and yahoo you'll find your access is limited, too -- the way they're set up spammers can get new accounts as fast as their old ones are deleted.
