The difference is that a lightsaber is pure energy, whereas the energy sword from Halo is made from shaped plasma!!! DUHHHHHHHHHH!

actually:
The weapon consisted of a blade of pure plasma[1] energy emitted from the hilt and suspended in a force containment field. The field contained the immense heat of the plasma, protecting the wielder, and allowed the blade to keep its shape.[2]

my name is phaserrifle, and I am a geek.;)

Shocking news! I believe Extrema Ratio is in cahoots with the international cartel of evil, Kaos. Look at the similarities of each logo....If there is an alliance between these two entities I shudder to think of the implications.

Noz_Cold_Steel_Espada_Extra_Large.jpg

really, what is the need for a folder this large? and at that price I can get a damned nice custom that will feel better in the hand, preform better and outlast this monstrosity.

oh god....is that POS 2-handed?

But he said it comes with a card that says "NO" to utility...

Futility is something it has in spades. It's decidedly un-pokey, has no hilt or choil... OK, so it's "slasher only"?

As far as passing the test of time... Has one ever been used successfully? I mean, lived up to it's one intended purpose?

I'm embarrassed for Spyderco.

Knives totally suck for defensive purposes, but this one seems even worse than most.

Let the lambasting of me begin...

Yes, it's for slashing/slicing, not stabbing. It's a knife that is designed for self defense by people with little training, or law officers with the need for a back up weapon, if somebody grabs their gun.

So it was designed for a very specific use, not as a knife for knife fighting or to look like a weapon.

With that in mind, the design makes a lot of sense. A guard is pretty much useless for its intended use and might make deployment more difficult.

I think everything cold steel makes is ridiculous; Their marketing is just hilarious.

I LOVE THAT YOU POSTED THIS!

I saw it just the other day! An unabashed ripoff of the Tom Brown Tracker/WSK style blade, and the bit that cracks me up is that he's obviously holding something else and the knife is superimposed right where his hands are!

LOL, these guys aren't even TRYING to be legit!! :D

You're right! Look at the bottom of the blade there is a bit of black which could be a scorpion arm which is clearly not part of the knife or the Marine's rolled up sleeve.:D

straight from cold steel's website:

Like the swords of old the Espada’s are not for the weak, timid, faint of heart or those desiring another spring assisted play toy. Just pick one up and you’ll see what we mean! Definitely not politically correct, they are huge yet surprisingly well balanced and feature dramatically upswept clip point blades that are ideal for cutting, slashing and piercing. Made from vacuum heat-treated and sub-zero quenched Japanese 8A stainless steel and hollow ground to a thin, razor sharp edge, they will cleave through just about any obstacle or target in their path.

OHHHHH NOOOOOO

Vacuum heat treated?? Uh... There's no oxygen in a vacuum so how are they heat treated?? Maybe they meant vacuum cleaner :D

not only vacuum heat treated but then the super duper japanese 8A stainless steel is QUENCHED in SUB-ZERO...wait what the hell is it quenched in??
and lets not forget the DRAMATICALLY upswept clip points that are IDEAL for cutting, slashing, and piercing.
what a load of crap.

That's ANCIENT JAPANESE STEEL! With ultra modern bowie clip point slashing blade! Don't forgot to wipe off blood from the the MIRROR POLISHED!!ONE11ELEVEN! bolsters after you finish massacring your evil terrorist prey.

It is quenched in a new hyper formulation of liquid nitrogen developed especially for giving blades a super sharp edge!

I should do marketing for them.
