TADgear.com

I ordered from them once, and they sent me the wrong knife, and weren't terribly interested in accepting a return or otherwise making it right. IIRC, after a good deal of hassle, they told me they were going to send me a box for return shipping, which never showed up. I should have the emails saved somewhere, but suffice to say, their customer service was sub-par. I ended up trading the knife here on the exchange, because it wasn't what I wanted. This was a $300+ knife, mind you. Generally speaking, when you order something online, you expect to receive what you paid for.

They will NEVER get another order from me.

FWIW I've only ordered from them once but my order was shipped promptly (same day I placed it) and I received exactly what I ordered.

TADgear has the worst CS I have ever encountered.

All the problems I have had have been with their own brand name products that they are clearly totaly unwilling to stand behind in any way.

I have actually spent the last few months trying to get them to respond about the guarentee for their "FAST pack" with a zip thats come unstitched.
Iv had one reply after 2 months saying some one will get back to me "next week" with detailes, that was about 5+ weeks ago.

I won't even get into the months and months of farsical lies and BS I went through the other times.

Not someone I can reccomend in any way at all :thumbdn:

Their jackets are actually ok but you can do better and you had better hope you dont have any problems with their stuff or your goosed.

Great bunch of fellow knifenuts and outdoor gear enthusiasts. And their gear is top notch made with state of the art materials and with extra useable features you won't find elsewhere. Indeed you pay for the best! Prices too high? Been to REI lately? Ask Walmart if they have Rhino Hide, Sharkskin jackets or Merino wool base layering. Best of all their apparell is made right here in the good ol' USA! Funny some won't buy cutlery that is manufactured overseas, but won't pony up for goods made right here, and trash the companies that do because they can't afford them! Oh yeah, and the chicks dig the jacket! That's good enough for me and I use them regularly without hesitation!

1. Online communications is pretty good....on par with any medium sized and smaller business, maybe at times better.

2. Have NEVER had good luck with them on the phone. No call backs, right person not in right now, everyone is gone buying AR rec's......

3. The website is like a Sharper Image catalog for the gear knuts...it is superb in my book

4. The gear is......OK. This is really what gets me. I was in charge of getting new products created and produced from numerous factories in China when I worked for Zan Headgear...I know quality. I prefer buying from American companies....guns, knives, clothing, socks, shoes, cars.....

a. Got a merino watchcap a few weeks ago....too thin IMO....maybe that is the way that it was designed to be, but was in the U.S. Navy, and again, IMO, they issue the perfect WEIGHT watchcap....it is scratchy as hell though, so merino would be an excellent upgrade.

b. Got the Gas Station Jacket....much ad copy about how heavyweight material it is, and my Carhartt double knees have way more substance than this material. OK for late spring, summer and early fall, but I was hoping for a serious challenger to my everyday Red Kap jackets.

c. Life Capsule---this one pissed me off big time....expensive, but I love the basic idea.....should not have been limited issue, and SHOULD have been made so people could purchase individual pieces, not just the whole shebang.

From where I sit in small business, TAD Gear is run by very intelligent, creative types who treat it like a hobby and build what they want to build. No hate here, but if I was looking at companies to invest in, this would not be one of them.

I've bought a lot of gear from them in the past. They are generally great in CS, but there are a couple asshats I've dealt with via email and phone. One of the grown ups got online with me and took care of it though. Like anywhere else, if you shop well, you can get some great buys. Watch out for the spendy stuff though. I can generally find comparative or better for cheaper on many items.

i've done a few deals with TAD & all went well, even dealt with CS a time/2 and again no probs, it has been a couple of yrs since i have dealt with 'em though.

they have a lotta cool stuff, and some limited edition knives which are hard to find elsewhere, i do agree they are high on some (a lot?) of stuff, but everything they have is gen'lly top notch stuff,

i have had probs getting them to respond to EM's but the phone has always been fine.

like others say "YMMV" though..............

Lucky for me I live an hours ride from TAD HQ so I do much of my business with them in person. Indeed a great bunch and a great place to hang. Folks I know who've purchased online with them are satisifed. I know that during the holidays it can get hectic over there. If you can work with Brandon or Candice they are very well informed on product, procedure and protocol and can easily move things along. All of the TAD Gear is top notch!! I scored a Strider SnG with Terminator Skull finish, exclusive to TAD and something you won't find elsewhere on the net except in the aftermarket.

I just checked out their store in person the other day - very cool. I bought two Fenix LD01's and wasn't happy with one of them due to rough threads and a crappy greenish looking beam. I brought the bad one back the next day and they gave me my money back after I explained why I was unhappy with it. I will shop there again.

I also got to handle some cooool knives while I was there. I really need a Kershaw JYDII composite now, that thing is phenomenal in person. :)
