Tai Goo

Personally, I like the unusual blade shape, kind of like a big-ass bayonet. :) I think this is going to be a very cool knife, especially if he puts one of his neat Hamons on it.

Kieth,
Who made the bowie knife in your Avatar?

Unfortunately, some of these threads are not posting pictures for me, such as this one and the "Reno preview" thread. I can't get to a "pop up blocker" option on my computer. I'll try using another computer, see if that's the problem.

Keiths one of the good ones - he gives your a clue in his signature line :D

Probably because he got tired of people like me e-mailing him to find out.

Master Goo has his way with the steel while Voltaire (L) and Severtecher (R) look on.

Here is a photo showing the wootz pattern.

This one shows the finished knife. At this point there is no photo showing the other side, so you don't get a look at the silver pommel. I will see if I can rectify that.

I've never seen a Bowie like this. I really like this knife a lot.

Definitely a unique and beautiful design - I like it very much, the wootz loks very interesting, I would definitely like to see a shot with the pommel in frame. Congrats Keith for cool addition to the collection.

Keith,
O.K., now I can see them. Interesting shapes, I've never seen a bowie design anything close to this.. where did the inspiration for the radical shape come from? Is the tang or choil area thicker for strength, it appears to be? It blends the traditional with a futuristic look...

The pommel is a small silver washer and a steel stud. The crown is exceptionally red.

The inspiration for the knife came totally from the mind of Tai Goo. I gave him an idea of what I wanted and he took it from there.

I don't know if the blade is thick near the guard for strength or not, but it is well over 1/4" at the guard.

:o REDDDDDDDDDDDD with envy!!!!!!!!!! Nice one Keith.

Had the pleasure of eating dinner with Mr. Goo (as well as many other knifemakers and enthusiasts) at Blade 04. Fantastic knives, great story teller and a good man.

Chuck will be getting the knife on Monday and will be sketching out some ideas for a sheath that we will go over. I am a firm believer that the knife and sheath are a package and that the sheath should be every bit as high quality as the knife that goes in it. If a knifemaker is not good at sheaths I will get someone that specializes in them to make the sheath.

By the way, Tai does not make leather sheaths and that is why I have gone to Chuck to have one made for this knife. Tai only works in wood and I didn't want a wood sheath.

Chuck sent me a drawing of his idea for a sheath for this knife. When he sends me a photo of the finished product I will post it. I'm pretty darn sure you guys are going to love it. Should be around the end of next week.
