Tai Goo

Here are the sketches that Chuck supplied me with. The first is the front, the second the back. There is lots of sterling silver and emu.

Here are some final photos of what the knife and sheath look like. Chuck and I decided to go with no silver tip on the sheath.

Gracious Me
Tai chuck and You Keith all in perfect synergy..that is THE TOTAL package
beautiful work all around!

Absolutely first class in all respects - my congratulations to all involved in this fine project. Keith, I think you should come to the fall CKG show and display your knives - I'd love to be able to handle these terrific blades in person.

Keith, this is flat out gorgeous. This is a knife I would order for my collection.

An excellent combination. Keith, you really do collect some interesting and artistic work. One day you should show us the whole collection :D

Roger

Roger, I don't really have a lot of knives. I feel that what I do have is a collection of keepers. Some day I will post some photos of my collection, but not until my photography skills are good enough to do them justice.

The knife arrived today and I am thrilled. When I first looked at it I thought that the edge was kind of rough. Upon closer inspection I realized that it was the wootz pattern and that the edge is smooth as glass and very sharp. I haven't been able to spend much time with it as of yet, but from the short exposure that I have had there are a few things that have really struck me about this knife. There is a great quench line. It didn't show up in any of the photos and I was pleasantly surprised. The fit of everything is first rate. The piece of stag fits my hand like they were meant to go together. There is a swell that my fingers wrap around that gives it a very secure feel. The blade looks to be about 3/8" think at the guard and it has a very smooth distal taper.

When I have had more time with the knife I will let you all know how I feel in the long term. It is my view that I will only become more impressed with the workmanship exhibited.

Chucks sheath is a great companion to the knife. He is a true master of leather and the partnership of knife and sheath is truely wonderful. This sheath has been made to fit the knife absolutely perfectly. You would think that this wouldn't be that hard to do, but it must be; I have had sheaths made by the best where the knife wouldn't go all the way in. If you ever need any sheath work done I couldn't recommend Chuck more highly to do the work. This is my second sheath from him and they are both of exceptional quality.

Thanks Keith - look forward to working with you again - if you hadn't have liked this one - well I just don't know...... ;)

Not in my wildest dreams could I imagine one's not liking that sheath. I personally think that the knife is fantastic and that the combo is easily one of the most fascinating I have ever had the privelege of viewing. The collaboration between Tai and Chuck is one that I hope to see more of in the future. They will stand the test of time, the greatest test of all. All ready well known in their own rights, these men will not be harmed by their joint ventures but be upped another level above superb! ---Sandy---

Keith,
Have you seen the picture of a Viking Halbred in Blade Magazine, by Hank Reinhardt (sp?) It vaguely reminded me (in tang area) of your knife. When I first saw it in your avatar I was surprised, it really stretches the concept of the traditional bowie knife.

How would you describe it.. Far North-East meets Old-West?

I checked out the article in Blade that you referred to and do see somewhat of a resemblance.

There is nothing really traditional about this bowie at all. Maybe the crown stag handle.

My description would be that it is pure Tai Goo. Where he gets his inspiration from I don't know.
