Take Down Fighter Progression!

Kyle as always great thread. I don't know how you have the time not only to make such a superb piece but take time to do the WIP. Much appreciated by all.
Hope you are having a Happy New Year with the family. 2011 is finally here and hopefully this is my year for a Kyle Royer knife

This is the guard after rough shaping ready for the quilons to be bent.

Here I have bent the quilons and finished shaping the guard. I also went over it with a 3-M scotch brite wheel and a coarse buff.

Here is a close up of the guard. It's very comfortable.

I sanded the handle to 2,500 grit and buffed.

This is the front, middle spacer on which I've grooved with an 1/8 inch file.

Now I am sanding the guard and pommel to 2,500 grit. They will then be buffed lightly.

Here is the finished filework on the two thin spacers.

About one hour of sanding and finishing later and presto... The handle and fittings are done.

Here is the blade after being finished to 600 grit. I have a small scratch that isn't where I want it. It won't show in the final picture Caleb will make. I am going to go ahead and have Caleb photograph the knife, then I'll make the sheath and do a final pass on the blade to get rid of the scratch (and take out any I may make while working on the sheath). I will be getting WIP pictures of the sheath as I make it to post here also.

Thanks for viewing this WIP. I'll post pictures as soon as I do the work and have pictures of the sheath progress. Kyle

Wow... What great process pics. I have learned so much in this thread. THANKS!!!

Very nice WIP, Kyle. That's a lot of work and a big thanks to both you & Caleb for including us in the progress.

GREAT looking work Kyle.

Thanks for posting the pictures.

I'll be awaiting to watch the sheath construction,

Peter

Fantastic, I love how you drilled the pommel cap for a torque bar of some sort rather then some fancy custom tool to take it down.

Super, love it, your pictures are great the close ups are like being there.

Thanks for taking the time and effort to include us in your creative process.

Kyle,

I really like this knife, especially the guard arrangement. I think this is my favorite knife you've made yet.

Looks awesome.

Tad

Kyle that is one of my favorites then again I like all your knives  thanks for taking the time to put this together.

Thanks for the compliments everyone! I've enjoyed doing this WIP.

Here is the final picture of the knife my Brother Caleb shot. I think he did a great job. I'll post pictures of the sheath tonight.

You've done a great job on this one Kyle. Caleb's photo is another fine work. Bravo to you both,

John
