Some "alone time" is always good. It's just a shame it is for the reason it is. You should know that there are a lot of guys like me who don't post as much as we read but we enjoy the things you and many others here contribute. Be safe and I hope you return.

What a bummer John, I totally understand where you're coming from and hope that it's not a very long sabbatical. There are some extremely knowledgeable folks here, including you brother, and I enjoy reading, learning from and discussing all the the various topics.

You will be missed ! I'm up for hitting those trails whenever you are bro.
 
It can be a challenge to have robust discussion & debate in this format without it degrading into petty bickering and character assassination. (Witness the high level of moderator engagement on most online forums.) WSS has historically not operated in this manner, even when we were "mod-less."

I think this came from a respect that most regulars displayed for one another. "I disagree with you on this" does not have to become "You're a pinhead." Unfortunately, this has become more common lately. Usually by new members or BF regulars that are not frequent WSS participants. Sadly, many of us don't show as much restraint as we should when we feel the other guy draws first blood.

John, I'm sad to see you go. Hopefully your time away will clear your head, enjoy some time outdoors, and prompt you to come back refreshed.

I hate to hear that the forum is having problems, since I have come back I have noticed that it seems to be a bit different than it used to be. I used to be considered a bit rowdy but I don't think I can hold a candle to some stuff I have read since coming back, however I am very glad to see some familiar faces and am glad to be back. And like I said, I hope that RRs break does him good and he comes back soon.

HD, I do love my burgundy wine and I have a dime for your cup of coffee any day. Chris
 
Sorry to see you leave, hope it won`t be for long. I`ve noticed a trend of a lot of the "old timers" from when I first came here are either gone, or rarely posting.

RR, im one of those guys who read a lot more than they post on here, sorry to see you leave as your one of the more down to earth contributors to this forum, thanks for inspiring me to carve my first spoon, hope you enjoy the trails
 
Riley that sucks buddy, I felt the same way a short time back but now just try and focus on the positive. There are some great guys here and I learn a lot so now just let any negative comments go over my head !
 
You'll be missed around here, John. You're one of the good guys that nobody wants to see leave. I've learned from your posts in the past, and hope to do so again in the future.

Anyway, I have a sneaking suspicion that I know where to track you down.:D
 
I don't see the chest beating on this subforum in particular - but if you see it - isn't as if you NEED this place - you NEED to get out in the woods though. It cleanses the soul.

I'm disappointed to see you go, and I hope it won't be for too long. Your posts are consistently some of the most insightful and thought-generating. I hope to cross paths sometime if you find yourself in CT.
 
I can totally understand the sentiment. I hope that you get what you need to out of your system. This is normal for forums IMHO as far as time of year, etc. People are just busy, and the ones that aren't just aren't. Please keep us posted if you put up anymore entertaining videos even if you are on a non-internet walkabout!
