So lets hear it, what would YOU like to see in a Busse folder?

For me I'd keep it simple, plain edge, 4 inch blade, framelock, INFI with flipper. No AO, no recurve, set for tip up or tip down carry, ambi. SOLID.

Every day I think "Maybe i'll buy another strider or a Hinderer", and then stop myself and say "Maybe at blade Jerry will debut proto folders that will soon go into production".

+1 on that.

Don't need a flipper though, but a nice framelock would be nice. :D

I hate thumb studs, wouldn't mind a combo thumbstud/flipper but for me I only like spydie holes and flippers.

Keep the trademark, use a talon hole as a flipper!

I like Strider Holes personally, but thumbstuds work for me. :D

I refuse to buy another Spyderco until they change their warranty to cover their knives....

I will never get over burning almost $300 on 2 knives that were not covered. :grumpy::mad:

Put a spyderhole on that and were good to go:cool:

I carry a millie, it's by far my favorite folder... BUT, I know for a fact that if I do ANYTHING besides slice normal material with it, it's done for. I've broken off the VERY VERY tip of it and had to regrind it, but there isn't a knife out there that fits my hand better.

I would like to see a 3 inch blade, something that will not scare the sheep.

I think Busse would be selling themselves short on a 3 inch folder, if I need a 3 incher, i'll just buy a kershaw skyline. Then again, I don't worry too much about what sheeple think.

Exactly, if I can't use them they are no good to me....

The only reason I bought 2 of them was because I thought they were covered........ NOT.... :grumpy:

Almost $300 in the garbage..... :grumpy::grumpy:

NEVER EVER AGAIN....

My $60 CS Voyager had gone though a lot more hard use than they ever did. ;)

And my very old Recon 1 has taken a ton of abuse over the years too. :D

Yeah, I know if I break the blade on my Millie, i'm done, I can't even BUY a replacement... but man, what a folder. So simple, but fits me perfect.

They are nice. :)

But with no warranty there just ain't no way I will ever buy another one. ;)

I thought about getting a 3rd one just to break on video to prove a point...... They break very easy, they snap like a twig.. :D

But I can't give them anymore of my money.....

Strider makes some tough folders from what I hear but their best design features are borrowed from Sal Glesser, Chris Reeves and Rick Hinderer--and they give credit to Hinderer for sure and probably to the others as well.

The Busse folder exists as a proto with a patented locking mechanism but it never made it out of the prototype stage.

The locking mechanism is similar to a ball-bearing or axis lock. It is patented:

My fear wouldn't be in the lock failing but in the pivot not being able to withstand the crap guys would do to a Busse Folder. Busse Combat can't have 2 different warranties for the fixed blades versus folders which is why I don't think we'll see one. I would love to see one, and I'd be happy with a different locking mechanism like the Dozier Tab Lock or an Integral Compression Lock. YMMV

As long as they are as strong as the Striders and ZT 0300 series there really shouldn't be a problem. :)

Ironically both of those designs utilize a Rick Hinderer Lockbar Stabilizer inorder to make the frame lock stronger. The need for that is eliminated if the locking mechanism is moved posterior on the folding blade ie the Dozier Tab Lock or an Integral Compression Lock, as well as JB's patented design.

Or they could use Andrew Demko's Tri-Ad Lock.

I'd go with a lockback, and extrema ratio's stop pin to keep it in place.
Is CS triad stronger than that?
