Tank Like Folders?

So I'm gonna be getting some kind of tank like folder here soon. Weight doesn't matter, size isn't an issue (But I'm trying to keep it in the 4" to 5" blade range)... So far Crusader Forge is in the lead... Their blades are .20" thick and their titanium handle scales are 3/16ths thick. And from what I'm told the newest models are gonna have 4.25" blades... I'm looking at the one with the large finger guard and solid titanium slabs (I don't like one side being G-10 like the Striders). Now... before anyone get's started... I know no one NEEDS a folder this overbuilt... and I know the sebenza and the like are wonderful folders... but I want a TANK. Just trying to address the "Why not get a Sebenza, you don't need a folder that huge and overbuilt" comments... though I'm sure they will still pop up LOL. Not saying something smaller and simpler isn't useful... But this is what I want. Besides I have a Leatherman Charge XTI with really does all my EDC blade needs so this is just an exercise in excess for the hell of it. So my question before I go buying a $500.00 folder is...

Are there any other folders out there that are even beefier? Something with maybe a .25" thick blade and .25" thick titanium scales? That would truly be a monster and would be something I'd be interested in. Plus... Crusader uses S30V... which is a wonderful steel that I truly love... but something more robust like a heavy duty tool steel or something would also be interesting to me. Any info guys. I'm basically looking for the chunkiest most overbult folder I can get. Something that makes people say... WTF is that? LOL. Thanks for any info guys.

If you're throwing the dough and want a tank, why not have one built to your specs. It would be your unique tank - One of a kind.

If weight or size isn't an issue, have you considered a fixed blade?

I got those... I want a Tank of a folder. I could carry my battle mistress on me everyday if I wanted LOL. I want a chunk of a folder just to have a chunk of a folder.

Who does such work and won't give me crap about materials. I've talked to a few makers in the past and they said they only use stock of X thickness, or handle slabs or Y thickness.

When I think "tank," I think of:

Spyderco Manix

Spyderco Chinook

Benchmade Rukus

I'd take a busse fixed blade, chop off the handles then get a maker to fashion a folder out of it. if you have $$ to burn.

A 1/4" thick blade on a folder is a bit over excessive as most locks will break before the blade breaks, the only thing I can see 1/4" thick blade doing is batoning tons of wood and used for a survival situation(if that's the case, get a fixed blade), it won't really be able to cut anything as it would be too darn thick.

If it's going to be a collector's piece, I remember seeing 1 beast of a folder here a while ago, it was a custom knife that someone bought from a knife or gun show and it had like a 1/4" thick blade and like a 4-5mm thick frame lock

When I think about a tank knife, Emerson comes to my mind. I've got a mini commander, full size, cqc8. all plain edge, Definitely tanks. Solid lock up, titanium liners, g10 scales. 154 cm blade. all plain edge. VERY strong knives. and they are not that expensive.

If you are looking for a 'tank' of a folder, the ones that come to mind are -

Spyderco Manix
Any Strider
Any Zero Tolerance
Any Strider/Buck (especially the 880SP)

When someone says TANK FOLDER I always think about
Extrema Ratio
Strider
Zero Tolerance
Hossom Retribution (The only one that hasn't been named so far in this thread).

There are other strong folders out there, but the ones I addresed are the thickest, most overbuilt of all of them.

From the original post, I understand he wants a folder with titanium slabs, no G-10, presumably no Micarta. I don't know if Extrema Ratiio's aluminum would satisy him. (They satisfy me, I've got 3 of them :) )
