Tank Like Folders?

Go grab a Strider AR or something and ask STR (or similar) to do a matching Ti liner for the G-10 side. If you've got the money, anything is possible. :)

I have a friend with an extrema ration nemesis, and that thing is huge. It has a lock back mechanism. In my opinion it is too big and heavy to be carried in a normal pocket, but if you want a tank folder this would be an option.

It sure is :D:thumbup:

The tankiest folder I have is an Airkat but the handle is G-10/Ti on that.
The styling is not for everyone but Dwaine defo puts out a solid knife

Yep, Carrillo folders are massive, I had a chance to buy one... but I didn't.:o 650.00 big ones gets you in the club...

Edit to add:
I'm looking for a beefy folder too, I have had my eye on Carrillo's, Hinderer's XM18, Al Mar Sere 2000 and Spyderco Para military. I'm probably going to get the Al Mar, $150.00 in .150" thick hand ground vg10 stock. I can't bring myself to spend $400.00 plus on something that can fall out of my pocket.

If you have the money there is a maker somewhere willing to suit your needs. Just keep looking. :D

+1 Life is a marathon, not a sprint. Since you demand very specific traits, might as well wait until you find exactly what you want. Maybe that rumored Busse folsder is just around the next corner...

Haha, hoho, heehee. Jerry said 5 years, give or take.

Yeah I give up on a Busse Folder. And knowing my luck Jerry would make it scaled down to be sensable and crap... who wants that... I want a Monster that will eventuually burst out of my pants pocket. LOL... keep the jokes clean gents. And he'll probably only make a limited number and they won't be available forever. I can't just have $500.00 to spend at a moments notice so I think a Busse Folder will always be just a dream for me.

I'd love to buy a Badger Attack and have a maker cut it down and make a folder out of it... but I just couldn't bring myself to cut down a Busse like that.

Even then... the Crusader is beefier than that... it's got a blade of .20" stock and scales that are 3/16th... so coming out of the gate it's beefier than a strider.

Tank of a folder huh?

Lockback designs

1st choice for me would be an Extreme Ratio Fulcrum II

2nd choice is a Manix

Economy choice would consist of the Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter folder. Although its sold as a hunter its a tank built tactical as well and has one heck of a thick lock and blade plus a strong spring. At $60 its a steal.

Frame lock designs.

1st) Easily is a Zero Tolerance 301. With a .190 thick slab of titanium and a stainless non lock liner and an 8 plus ounce package its a tank but if you don't want G10 I guess not.

2nd choice tough call but I'm sure for me it would be something either like the Strider SnG or the large Sebenza.

Economy here depends on what you call economy. The Bradley Alias made for them by BenchMade is quite nice but for really inexpensive I'd suggest a Kershaw Storm II which is a fine beater upper by any stretch of the imagination.

Axis locks.

1st choice is the 14205 for me.

2nd choice is its paternal twin the 14200

Economy here go with a Griptilian.

STR

That's really sweet but it seems that his blades are only .160" thick... Can he do thicker blades and special orders?
Ask him. But, you are in for a long wait, as he is not taking orders at this moment. Shane is a fantastic maker, and a terffic person. In my opinion, IS very much worth the wait. I waited a long time for my Diablo Pocket Rocket. You ouhta check out his Monster Rocket! That thing is huge!!

I'll look into it. thanks for the info.

The Espada is too thin 3.8mm ain't gonna cut it. The Rajah is thick enough... but it's AUS8A stainless... which is an OK steel, but it's no S30V... and it dang sure ain't A2 tool steel. And the handle material is not titanium, and I'm sure the handles are not as robust and substantial as 3/16ths or .25" titanium would be. The knives are big... I'll grant you that. But they're not substantial enough in materials. And you didn't provide any video on a Strider or Crusader Forge being subjected to those tests... I can bet you they'd have no trouble with them.
