I know that exact dates are not going to be provided...but can we get a feel as to whether the Tatanka will be out "soonish" or not?

Good question. I could swear I read a post where Sal said it would be coming out in August but that's obviously not the case.

It is an interesting design. I am a fan of large folders and am intrigued by the lock. Cant wait for a review on this bad boy.

Tatanka has been released! Street price is about $190.

Now I just need to get some cash before it's in stock here in Canada...

So, I just saw for the first time a comparison between the Tatanka and the Military. The first thing that came to mind was, this knife is a beast, but in a good way of course (the Bison has arrived!) The antithesis of what an office style knife should be. But, (always a but in there somewhere) it is slim and looks to have some really good ergonomics. I can't swing the price for one of these yet, but I want one and I think this one might just bump the Military out of my pocket for a while. I need to send my S30V Military back to Golden for a tune up after being in perpetual (on and off) use for the last 4-5 years. The new Power Lock looks cool, I did some searching for a picture and found Mr. Blond's blog contained some really nice pictures of the mechanism but I still want to learn more.

Did somebody say a Tantanka Military comparison pic?

Yup it is a beast! A little too beastly for me. Hope the Powerlock sees its way on other Spyderco Models. I think I will stick to my Military as my Large folder though.

You could almost get a full two hand grip on this. Very nice balance. Heavy at 9+ ounces yet very light for its size. I would never edc it so it was a catch and release for me. Really like the powerlock though. Hope it makes its way on more Spyderco models.

I have 2 on pre-order (knifecenter and bladehq) ... wonder which will ship first.

Mine came today. I'm quite pleased with it. It comes in a standard Spyderco box that is bulging out at both ends. :D

I handled one at the outlet store today, what a beast. As for the wave mod, at least from the factory the lock is too stiff for a wave to be functional. I'll get one someday I love the feel of it for such a huge knife. Makes the mille seem like a dragonfly in comparison
