Tatanka...soon?

Mine came today. I'm quite pleased with it. It comes in a standard Spyderco box that is bulging out at both ends. :D

Tom

Awesome, the box can barely contain that monster. :)
Can you get some pics of the blade stock compared to some regular known Spydercos?

Here's a few quick shots. I apologize for the quality. The Tatanka, Military, Stretch and a Centofante 3.

That is one of the cooler Spydercos I've seen in some time that I would probably never need and could not possibly justify buying. Placing order now.

I think my main use for this knife will be the "mines bigger than yours bragging rights". Should go well with my Cold Steel XL Espada. :D

I won't EDC it. I have a problem kicking my PM2 out of the pocket very long for any knife...but yeah, the Tatanka is just awesome and I will carry it from time to time just because. Cargo pants here I come.

I'm looking for a low carry clip for this one but I'm afraid I'll need deeper pockets.

My credit card still hasn't been hit for either order....

I handled one at the outlet store today, what a beast. As for the wave mod, at least from the factory the lock is too stiff for a wave to be functional. I'll get one someday I love the feel of it for such a huge knife. Makes the mille seem like a dragonfly in comparison

How does the stiffness compare to a Triad-lock?

Simple solution! Just cut a hole in the bottom of your knife pocket. With all the great new spyderco models coming out in the past/coming months, there should be no issues with losing money through the hole.
:)

Seriously excited to get my hands on one of these and check out the inner workings of the lock.

Got mine today. It's a beast.

Some more size comparisons for everyone that asked.

Thanks for the picture. That is one heck of a nice knife. How thick is the blade sock compared to the Military?

It's definitely thicker. Probably close to proportional in size to the Millie if not moreso. The biggest difference is the grind. The Tatanka has a much stouter tip and I wouldn't hesitate to use it for some light prying tasks that I wouldn't do with the Millie.

Here are some pictures.

And the money shot...

I am very impressed with the quality of my Tatanka. The blade is centered and has no play even with the lock disengaged. A very solid knife indeed. I have many Japanese Spyderco knives but this one trumps them all on workmanship. Behind edge thickness is about .034 inches. Awesome knife!
