Man, that is my favorite tool! Thank you so much for the smoother thingy bud! And now I know what it's called! lol

(Evan made it!)

I'm glad you like it bud! The smoother thingy is my favorite and most used leather working tool, and really improved the quality of my work.

That's a beautiful slip, Barry--looks perfect. Really well done and it looks great next two those to fine knives!

Those work in progress pics of the sheaths are awesome! Super impressed by that tooling, looks so nice and dimensional.

Willydigger, that Barlow Bead is most awesome!
Evan and Barry, your leatherwork compliments the pocket knives immensely, and I am sure makes it yet more enjoyable to carry a nice knife!
How many knives are we up to??
Maybe this thread will never end!! What if we get 30, 40 even 50 things to give away??? Huhhh??? :eek:Duncan?? What will you do???

Hey Mods!! Can this thread get its own forum? Can it, huhh???
:D

OK - Duncan said I was in anyway and I never answered the questions. I went back and looked at Paul's African Blackwood and I would enjoy a chance on it.
It would work into my Charlow collection quite nicely, so I will cross my fingers for it.

1. What 21st century model production traditional folder besides the TC Barlow do you think will be a desirable collectible in the future?

The GEC model 15 Scouts should be collectable, in addition to the TC Barlows.

2. What etching/graphics would you like to see on a TC Barlow blade?

I think the etching designs are well thought out by Charlie and Barry and it would be extremely difficult to improve on what is already an EPIC knife design. Maybe the TC logo etch or stamp, a little bigger and surrounded by the stars might look nice, following the less is more concept. Maybe a black cat with it's back all humped up - etched on the blade for a orange and black Halloween edition Charlow. Possibly a "Waynorth Edition" etch for us BF members - with long pull spearpoint and antique amber saw-cut or antique yellow (2nd antique yellow used) saw-cut bone!!!:eek::thumbup:

3. Why you like the TC Barlow - in what design?

I have often said the TC Barlow is such a well thought out design and in my opinion, the best production knife out there! Every single one I own have centered blades, meticulous workmanship, and they will prove to be a historical knife. This you can write down and take to the bank. GEC and Charlie and his team have produced a monster knife! I love the 1095 steel used in this knife and the steel bolsters. Make NO mistake about it though, it is that TC logo on the bolster that really sends this knife over the top in design. I think my very favorite blade combo is the pen in front long pull spearpoint.

4. Why you think you should win a TC barlow:

I should not win one because I tried to derail your thread and heckled and harassed you and threatened you with my violent armed forces!! I even started a counter thread to combat yours.

If I should get LUCKY and win the sheep foot, I will pay my luck forward and give away another TC Barlow of mine, one that I like a little less than the sheep foot.

Oh my wow! This seems so cool. Thank you.
I own one TC, but it's a good one! I am at "the place where dreams come true" with the family so if I missed something or have fouled in some way... Sorry. Won't hear you screaming at me for days or at least hours. Please be patient. :-)
Here we go

1. What 21st century model production traditional folder besides the TC Barlow do you think will be a desirable collectible in the future?

Well, I am new to this thing, but I think the Northwoods line is sweet! Particularly the Fremont Jack.

2. What etching/graphics would you like to see on a TC Barlow blade?

Love it the way it is! Just my opinion.

3. Why you like the TC Barlow - in what design?

SWEET Look! Also the quality is superior!

4. Why you think you should win a TC barlow:

I don't think I deserve to win over another either... but maybe because I will use it, care for it and keep it stupid SHARP! Oh, and you will see it here all the time!

Hope this is good enough...

This thread is crazy! I've been reading it with a big smile on my face from the beginning. I've been in doubt that I'd participate or not 'cause well, a TC barlow is just a really nice thing to give away and I'm not sure I deserve it. Might as well give it a shot though, right?

1. I've always thought of Canoes and Congress patterns as more collectible than others. Not sure why, but it's in my head this way. I suppose something like a Boker Tree Brand Congress, or a #61 in stag will be high on a coillectibles list in the future.

2. A barlow is one of thé classic patterns out there. Thinking back to reading Tom Sawyer and the like, some kind of farmer-like etching would be fitting, in my opinion. A farmer with a straw hat forking hay on the field or something similar would just scream out atmosphere.

3. I like the barlow configuration overall. The TC just screams quality so there you have two wins in a row already. My favourite configuration is rather classic, with a clip and pen blade.

4. Not sure on this one. There's a lot of people in this thread that deserve it. I can only say I'd want one. I've got a few barlows, mostly inexpensive (used, old stock, or cheaper brands) and I'd like to know what it is to carry and use a premium model. I'm actually not quite sure how I'd handle one. Would I carry it or regard it as a safequeen? Honestly, I'm not sure. But I'd like to find out.

Thanks for the chance everyone, this is already fun the way it is without even winning something. Keep it up

Tick tock tick tock ... This GAW is gonna make one crazy night of happy knife owners when the winners are announced.

I just hope all the givers have prepared for charlow separation anxiety.

I just hope all the givers have prepared for charlow separation anxiety.
I heard that that's is a very serious and sometimes life threatening disorder.

Seriously though, this has been one entertaining thread. As it's been said before, I'm just happy I was a part of it.
Can we just get to the freaking winners already?
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I will try to control myself.

So . . .has the official end been determined for sure?
In a way, I hope not! Give Away Without End = GAWE!

Non owner here. In fact, I don't own any GEC but this year's forum knife will be my first.
I wish last year's was but it wasn't meant to be.

1. If last year's knife ever becomes a production model that would be my pick.
Of current models I would say #81 but the majority of those who have opined
seem to dislike larger knives. So I'll say #15 boys knife, #66 calf-roper, or the #73.

2. I like plain blades but I think a simple stamp of "BARLOW KNIFE" with an etching
of Charlie's signature under it would be okay. I don't really see Charlie going for
that so I really like the suggestion of a previous poster of "Twain's Fancy" under
the stamp.

3. I have only held one GEC in my hand and that was the #15 boy's knife. Man,
that felt good in hand. Really good. If the TC Barlow feels similar then that's why.
Single clip blade. Sheepsfoot and Stew's Blade a close second.

4. I reckon if I deserved it I'd already have one. Truth is, winning one would scare
me because then I'd have to learn how to take and post pictures. That would be some
hard work.

Michael
