Seriously though, Paul, its guys like you that keep this place a down to earth place that men and women can come pull up a chair and talk of the finer points of life (you know, knives, sharp edges, history, a better time in history even).

No matter the periods of absence, it will never be a permanent one. I already plan to renew my platinum even if I don't have time to visit the site

Barry,I'm sorry I haven't spoken up on your behalf until now.You have been a big part of these barlows,helping Charlie in many ways,least of all your artwork. I know you are a good man because Charlie has spoken such and an honest and honorable dealer.I just don't know if you can really catch fish...

Any thing good will have evil try to creep in,but I think we have overcome that.I don't think hardly anyone truly meant to be malicious.

Thank you Gary for doing a great job moderating and I know death is cruel.Tell your wife and her family I am thinking about them with sorrow.

Hey GT, Glad to have you here. Regarding the anomaly in this thread, Frank (knarfeng) and I jointly moderate this sub-forum. Frank left for a family vacation this past Wednesday and was not going to be connected. Wednesday I ended up on my way out of town due to a death in my wife's family. Bottom line is for a few days this forum wasn't getting the scrutiny it usually does. The other mods look in when they get a report, or happen to notice something but they can't be expected to read every post as Frank and I do.

As someone already mentioned this thread turned into a train wreck. If it takes another turn believe me it'll get closed and those that need a warning or infraction will get one. I'm happy to see that the guys we can count on put this back on track, in spite of the derailment.

Gary, my sympathies for your loss. And thanks for the explanation of how this thread possibly got "out of control" (at least by traditional subforum standards) for a while. You and Frank do a superlative job with what's essentially a thankless task!!

GT I must apologise as well, I was right in the midst of that but I I wont have one of our real good guys being spoken badly of by mis-informed people - it was done in another thread as well - I get pretty defensive when it comes to one of our good guys - whos name got dragged in here and given wrongfully a hard time, and also the TC's and everything behind those brilliant knives and minds. So please accept my apologies - Traditionals is a fantastic place, and we all know it will stay so - mainly thanks to the majority of the good members we have here - and our Mods to twist our ears when we get out of line.

Duncan, apologies accepted, but not really necessary. I think Cory Hess has it right when he mentions "bad juju and misinterpretations" as a major factor in what transpired; when I was reading the thread yesterday, I was getting an "invasion of the body snatchers" feeling: who are these posters and what did they do with the regular folks who "live" here.

Anyway, I'm very grateful that 24-30 hours has made a huge difference. Thanks to all for the gracious apologies etc. that have turned things around 180 degrees IMHO!
