Primble: you are the man! That is one awesome mouse that chewed on my knife. :D

I will keep my eyes peeled for the spearpoint!

Keep one ear to the ground or you could always trade that old beat up looking soupie in for a new clip point. :D

It looks like a mouse has been chewing on the handles of it - you don't need that beside your fine knives. I will gladly relieve you of that problem knife. :D

:D:D:D It might be all my jibber jabber in such a short amount of time, makes it seem like a loonngg time !:D:D

That and all your amazing pictures! I'm sure I'm not the only one that looks forward to your pictures every day :)

So is it impossible to get your hands in one if these? Are they not sold anywhere other than on this forum?

You have to work to find one - in many cases. Don't expect to say - I really like those - I want that one - here is my cash.

.... or you may be the lucky type that is just in the right place at the right time.;)

If you pay attention to the Charlow threads, there will be clues, when the next ones are released. Explore around and learn who the dealers are for these and explore the exchange here.

Good luck - if you really want one and invest the time - it is far from impossible. :)

Thank you Todd and Canuck for the words.:)

I am fairly certain there will indeed be another run or two of the TC Barlows. Of course they will not be identical to any already produced. Be patient and stay tuned to the Barlow threads. :encouragement: :encouragement: :encouragement:

Well that's goo to know. It's just gonna take some work to find. And your right. Keep an eye out and ear to the ground and I'm bound to find one one day. Thanks for that Primble!

Soulwatcher - I sent you a clue for a few with a visitor message on your profile.

If you just want one, they're not hard to find. Check the Old Timey Knives For Sale section of the forum; TCs are listed there often but you gotta be fast. There are usually some listed at a certain auction site. And some GEC dealers sell them when a new run is released.

However, if you're looking for one particular TC model, that can be tough. There weren't many made of each variation, and they are in high demand. It took me months of watching and waiting to finally acquire my desired spear point.

If totally impatient and have to buy a knife today, you should check out the other #15 patterns that are currently plentiful at Gunstock Jacks, Old Hundred Collectibles, and elsewhere.

At the end of my work day yesterday, I read through this entire thread (as it existed at that time, about 7 pages), and went home in quite a gloomy mood. I've been lurking around here for 9 months, and one thing I noticed almost immediately back then was that, even though individuals of course had different opinions on many matters, the discussions were invariably courteous, respectful, and civilized. At first I found this hard to believe, too good to be true. But as time passed with no exceptions to this pattern (at least none that I encountered), I became accustomed to the idea that the traditional subforum was a place characterized by generosity, civility, courtesy, and even a sense of family. So that's why some of the posts I read early in this thread left me sad and disillusioned; I felt that Paradise had been lost.

But first thing this morning, before I headed off to some traveling I had to do for work, I caught up with the "overnight developments" in this thread, and I feel so much better now! It seems there's a consensus that the early tone of the thread really was quite an anomaly for the traditional subforum, and considerable conflict resolution has occurred (forgive my lapsing into "psychobabble").

Anyway, that's one guy's opinion.

Hey GT, Glad to have you here. Regarding the anomaly in this thread, Frank (knarfeng) and I jointly moderate this sub-forum. Frank left for a family vacation this past Wednesday and was not going to be connected. Wednesday I ended up on my way out of town due to a death in my wife's family. Bottom line is for a few days this forum wasn't getting the scrutiny it usually does. The other mods look in when they get a report, or happen to notice something but they can't be expected to read every post as Frank and I do.

As someone already mentioned this thread turned into a train wreck. If it takes another turn believe me it'll get closed and those that need a warning or infraction will get one. I'm happy to see that the guys we can count on put this back on track, in spite of the derailment.

This sub-forum is for the Discussion of knives. Not how much they cost or where to buy them, or our perception of how much they should cost.

Barry, You are a stand up guy and a fine dealer. I'm sorry you got dragged into this nonsense and I apologize on behalf of the civil and courteous people that regularly post here.

Yes - Gary sorry for the sad news.
GT I must apologise as well, I was right in the midst of that but I I wont have one of our real good guys being spoken badly of by mis-informed people - it was done in another thread as well - I get pretty defensive when it comes to one of our good guys - whos name got dragged in here and given wrongfully a hard time, and also the TC's and everything behind those brilliant knives and minds. So please accept my apologies - Traditionals is a fantastic place, and we all know it will stay so - mainly thanks to the majority of the good members we have here - and our Mods to twist our ears when we get out of line.

Evan - congrats on the birth of a boy!!! that is such great news, no doubt a Traditionalist in the making eh? That lucky little boy doesnt know just how good things are awaiting for him

Kevin my friend, I too am glad - hang around matey we need guys like you -this is why this is so good.To everyone who has mentioned our mate Primbles photos - arent they just fantastic!! wonderful photos by a wonderful chap

I have been staying away from this thread, as I honestly wasn't getting any enjoyment out of it. I just caught up on it and wanted to say a couple things.

Duncan: I have enjoyed your posts up to this point, and am chalking this thread up to some bad juju and misinterpretations. I want you to know that there's no hard feelings on this end and I hope the same goes for your end. It's real nice of you to plan to give away one of the knives that you obviously hold dear. I will not be participating in the give away because these knives belong in the possession of somebody that is that passionate about them. I think that they're great knives, but I do feel that they'd be wasted on me.

Evan: Congratulations on the boy. Your family will be in my prayers and I hope that everybody is happy and healthy.

Gary: Sorry to hear the news. I apologize deeply for any small addition of stress I may have caused during this time.

I never meant any disrespect to anybody here. I don't think that it's my place to even begin questioning the buying and selling of another's property. I interpreted the meaning of this thread as somebody looking to get a rundown of just what it was that made the TC Barlows so special. It obviously turned from that into some weird and ugly stuff. I wish you all nothing but the best, and hope that whatever you do with your money and knives brings you nothing but happiness. That's what this is all about and why we all come here. It's a hobby and it's intended to make us all happy. I'm sorry if my behavior has done anything to lessen anybody's happiness, even if just for a short time.

I tell you what everyone.

Traditionals is a fantastic place. So I am going to put up a giveaway thread for a TC Barlow - I haven't had a giveaway for a while- there's a grey. cloud hanging over right now - and so let's leave this thread on a nice note.
I will strike up a giveaway tomorrow.

This is THE best Place- this Barliw givraway is in thanks to Charlie for these beautiful knives because in this thread we all have one thing agreed upon and that these TC's are extremely good knives.

I will be home late tonight but will post the give away tomorrow.

Duncan-Your generous giveaway offer has brightened everyone's outlook . Like the rainbow after a grey, windy rainstorm.
After the tempest that overtook this thread I thought you might need cheering up a bit so I took this photo for you.It was originally aimed towards some derisive, puerile snickering. Since you have turned this thread A over T and got it moving in a positive direction I feel oddly ripped off. Hope you like it anyway:D
Cheers
but not an entry for me.

go you good thing.
Hesso- Kudos to you for apologising. I'm still not sure where it all went horribly wrong. Hey we're all big boys here so don't sweat it.

Duncan. I check in as much as I can. A little over a year into my new career and I don't plan to let up too much. It is nice to have a little breather now to check back in here. I look at it as a necessary absence from most things I enjoy that should pay off and let me settle right back into the spots I call home. That's how I justify it at least :)

I miss this place. It's the best.

You always find a way to make me laugh, Ned!!!

:D

Seriously though, Paul, its guys like you that keep this place a down to earth place that men and women can come pull up a chair and talk of the finer points of life (you know, knives, sharp edges, history, a better time in history even).

No matter the periods of absence, it will never be a permanent one. I already plan to renew my platinum even if I don't have time to visit the site :)

Less talk and I promise this weekend I am getting out with my camera and that beauty you gave me. Pics to come :)
