Tear drop pattern - any love?

In light of just seeing a rare post of a Tozaki knife in the Custom Traditionals thread I'm going to go ahead and post one of his TB tribute teardrops here:

My QCCC line-up including the Red Winterbottom Bone from the not so far distant past when Queen offered complex jigged bone... I think the range included MOP (which I do not like on any knife) and Stag which was mediocre and so I think not worthwhile.

That is one darn fine looking knife. Awesome really. Thanks for sharing.

Much appreciated! Bocote is one of those woods that can look really plain or pretty spectacular. I like the speckled grain in this one.

The T.Bose/CASE issue Teardrop Jack. A high quality knife at not a high price. Note the wraparound spring on the minor, a fine touch.

Astounding workmanship! You are indeed a lucky owner:thumbup: That Bone is orbital...:D:cool:

Thanks, Will

Agreed Will, the wraparound spring is a VERY nice touch. I think the only GEC with one is the Eureka jack . . . I'd like to see more patterns with them.

Me too Jeff, looks very well on the Eureka and on the CASE Swayback Jack.

I wish I was lucky enough to own it, I was just posting that image because I admire it. My experience with Japanese makers has been absolutely outstanding so far and I think I might have to add a piece from Tozaki San soon.

Here's a few from my collection. Mostly vintage stuff plus a recent custom from Esnyx. I prefer the beefier teardrop shape over the slimmer gent's style like the Case/Bose.

...

I'm with Phil in the preference for the hefty teardrops instead of the slim ones. And I'm a sucker for the EO version of a teardrop. And two blades, definitely two blades. The only ones I have are a Colt and a GEC 85.

I may get ran up a tree for this but I look at the TDJ and swell end jack as the same. I may look at it to broad, but my eyes see them as the same. Here is my swell end jack collection all three different GEC patterns but to my eyes much the same. Except the thinness of the single blade 15 they feel the same in the hand. Yes; I like them a lot!

+1
Other than aesthetics, a tear drop and swell end both feel really similar in hand (both great), and I lump them together. I dont think I could even tell which is which unless I "knew."

Charles, that knife is just phenomenal. I know I've seen pictures of it before, and it's just one of those knives that makes you stop and say "Wow". Just phenomenal.
