Tec-X collection from Case.

Ugh, lame. Definitely a step in the wrong direction with the tecx nonsense. Case and imported should not be together, and it seems like selling some uninspired derivative designs like these imports could only tarnish the Case reputation.

Now take those tecx's and go bury them behind the shed.

Case has always been pretty good at giving the customer what they want while keeping demand high. The Vault is marketing genius. A seemingly endless variety of handle materials keeps the collectors clamoring for more. Branding knives with celebrity names/brands and not over-doing it like The Franklin Mint takes a bit of finesse.

I propose that Case stick those in the The Vault ASAP .:p Skip the Dale Jr./John Deere versions. skip the orange G10 version. Straight to the vault with all of 'em :D.

It's a sad day. One that I, and I'm sure many others, hoped would never come. My wife just asked me why I was moping around the house.
I would rather read that Case is making knives in China than reading that Case is going out of business. If this is what it takes for them to keep their doors open, then I guess it's a good thing. But I am not happy about it.

The Schrade X-Timer line does sound eerily familiar, and look how well that turned out for Schrade.
Although the new "Schrade" seems to be doing okay. I keep seeing more and more new models. Maybe the original company would still be around if they had bitten the bullet and moved production overseas earlier.

I really hope Case isn't "jumping the shark" with this new line. "Tec-X", what a stupid, stupid name. :barf: I'll keep buying the dickens out of their traditionals, as long as they keep making them.

Stupid move marketing wise. Those scream cheap to me...they look like cheap S&W crap. It's just too tough a market to try and compete in with the Rat 1 folder, Tenacious and others coming in under 30 bucks.

Now if they came out with a nice integral lock, one handled opener w/ jigged bone scales and a skeletonized frame for less than 100 bucks made in the USA they could kill it.

The sad thing is this isn't going to save anything - its a stupid move made by a C suite marketing stiff trying to save his job. Spyderco isn't going anywhere, Kershaw is holding strong, Buck is still kicking it and they all make knives in USA and overseas.

If you want a piece of the modern market- exploit your distribution network but keep your brand equity arms length or farther.

Case is too late to the party.

They were already taking the right steps by introducing their G10 series. "Modern traditionals" is NOT an oxymoron. All they have to do is look to any knife publication or industry forum to find knife makers bringing traditional knives into the modern era while honoring their rich history.

That is what I thought about the TrapperLock with the thumb stud and pocket clip.

I guess you can't be tacticool without some carbon fiber and a blade height of more than 1.5".

CASE your too late! I can go to any random sporting good or big box store and buy the same thing! I would bet it's made by the same factory off shore as many of the other brands that are already out there. I'm hurt and lashing out, like a dog just hit by a car!:barf:

Please, O, Please pinch me and tell me April fools!:(

In my opinion, there are too many tactical folders out there. If I wanted something "more advanced" I would stick with the Benchmades, Cold Steels, and CRKs. Those companies who are just starting to release "future" or "tactical" blades have already missed the boat. Heck, I thought the RussLock was a major step into the future for Case...I guess in a tough economy, it's either die or die trying.

Check out number 3. Buck nobleman lookalike? Which is made by Sanrenmu:barf: In......China:( It has the same hardware.

Just read about TecX on another site and found it here also. Reading about the China part just gave me that ol' feeling you get in your gut when things have gone terribly wrong! Like an old friend has passed away, bad feeling.

I don't like the look of this... What does this mean for Case in the long run? Will they move all manufacturing offshore? I sure hope not. It would be a terrible thing if Case were to fade away and eventually close it's doors like so many other traditional companies.

I don't have a problem with Case having knives made in China. I would have like to seen these introduced along with some USA made "premium" one-hand locking folders, like Buck does. Buck sells the Chinese knives in blister packs at Walmart, 2 in a pack for less that $25. I would not be surprised if Buck sells the China made folders like the Noble at a ratio of 100 to 1 over the USA made knives like the Vantage. Case should definitely try to capture some of that market.

I wonder if Buck sells more China made Stockmans, than USA made Stockmans?

All of them look SRM-made, and coming out of China, there's a good chance they are. In my opinion, they're a decent $20 work knife, but I'd expect and hope for a little more from a knife carrying the name Case.

Yes,Buck makes knives offshore. And good quality ones too.But it hurt them i think.Their family reputation. They seem to be trying to bring it back and rein it in as much as possible. When i do shows ill have a few and people will say,Buck dont make knives in China. When i explain that they are wrong, they kind of walk away with a confused sad look kind of like we all have now.I think this is a mistake for Case XX.Im sure they will make a profit on the knives, but its gonna kill the century plus reputation of a American knife company.I also hear now "All Buck knives are made in China now" when in fact that is way far from true.

That's the thing these benefit little from, but do a lot to tarnish the case brand.

The reason I was attracted to Case knives is because they WEREN'T outsouced! Why don't they just improve on their Slimlock? They could easilly have a pocket clip option, put jimping here and there, offer it in serrations, coated blades, etc. I know I'd buy one. I'll still look at Case, but as far as (generic name), I'm not interested.
