tell me the Maxamet PM2 isn't discontinued!

Yes, until they’re not. They had some issues with production. Keep your eyes open...they might come back with consistency like the Manix2 LW and Native5 LW or they might be seriously collectible.

Maxamet Shmaxamet . . . M4 is where it's at and I have one in S110V that can't hang.

Glad I got one of the first lot. Just in case.
And yes it has a slight curve to one side of the blade if you look close.
But I expect whatever the manufacturing issues are, they will get sorted sooner or later.
Reminds me of BM several years ago having (warping?) issues with M390 blades. Whatever that was, they sorted it.

I think Sal had said something like "if it's in our catalog we will make it" about this knife, so there is hope.

Are there other Spyderco folders currently available in Maxamet? If so, I wonder what the issue is with the PM2??

LW Manix and Native 5 are both currently available in Maxamet.
Looking down the blade spine of my Para2 from thumb ramp to point, one side of the blade is flat, the other has a slight curve inward toward the pointy end. Never noticed it 'til I heard about the Para2 Maxamet issue and looked close.

I just checked my PM2 Maxamet blade for straightness.

Both spine and sharpened edge are very straight with reference steel machinists scale.

Excellent quality for fit and finish for production knife.

Regards,
FK

Am I reading correctly that PM2 Maxamet has the problem of a not 100% straight blade? If that is the case, why are people chasing it like hot chocolate? Just because it is no longer in production?

The blade on mine looks straight to my ageing eyesight. The cutting edge is straight. The blade is flat against a straight edge on one side, but the other side isn't, it curves in slightly over the last 25mm to the tip. I didn't notice it 'til I read about the issue and looked close.
Not sure why. Matter of time before Spyderco figures it out I reckon.

Not quite correct. The blade is straight and centered on the 3 examples I own, and others I looked at in the factory store.

This describes the "problem" well. And it isn't very much. In fact, most folks would be hard-pressed to even see that slight curve on the one (obverse) side towards the end (I agree, it starts about an inch from the tip). The curve is less than a mm from flat, probably about 0.75mm (0.030") when I actually try to measure it.

Well, 2 of 'em are actually past tense. Owned. Gave them as Christmas gifts...

Now I just have the one, and it has been in my pocket since it arrived. And has yet to need sharpened! I love Maxamet!!!

hmmmm.... I find it hard to understand no info at all, especially when time is given to reply to those that are not going to buy more Spyderco products due to price increases. You wont change their minds. But some of us are ok with prices and still enjoy the range of knives you make.
