tell me the Maxamet PM2 isn't discontinued!

Anyone know the answer yet? Is the PM2 Maxamet discontinued or will more eventually be released?

Its an odd one. They can clearly make other knives in Maxamet. Man , there must be so many variables to this game to cause a hicup for such a proven company. It will be really interesting to hear the story behind it.

Ive done my bit to get them back in to production by purchasing 2 on the private market at inflated prices... they probably be available next week lol

M390 is the way to go. I have heard that Maxamet is a bear to sharpen

M390 is a great steel. OTOH, who cares if Maxamet is tougher to sharpen...IF you hardly ever see it losing the edge? I hold BOTH steels in highest regard.

Am I reading correctly that PM2 Maxamet has the problem of a not 100% straight blade? If that is the case, why are people chasing it like hot chocolate? Just because it is no longer in production?

SOME blades are warped....Many are not.

Well, 2 of 'em are actually past tense. Owned. Gave them as Christmas gifts...

Now I just have the one, and it has been in my pocket since it arrived. And has yet to need sharpened! I love Maxamet!!!

(Gave them as Christmas gifts) You shoulda bought ten of those suckers. And maybe limit the gifts to S30V. :)
Maxamet
sounds amazing.

The Outlet Store kinda figures it's past history.

i don't mind the price increase, but the knife has to be 100% true to speck, things happen!even under spyderco.

So if the steel is difficult to work with and hence spyderco has no plan to continue PM2 with it, why they are still manufacturing Para3 with this steel? I am not an expert but is it true that smaller blades are easier to work with? I mean, whats the difference between PM2 and Para3 other than the size.

Good point. Also the manix lw is larger than the para 3 and it's still being produced.

"Hey Sal, I was wondering if there is any info you are able to share about when the PM2 in maxamet might be back and when the Para 3 in maxamet may appear? I am just kinda curious about maybe sooner, later, or if the magic eight ball says the future is hazy for some reason. I am loving all the cool new models that have been announced but have really been itching for these.
Thx!"

"Maximet is a very challenging steel to turn into a blade. Fallout is high and we need to think it through more carefully before resuming.
