tell me the Maxamet PM2 isn't discontinued!

Sorry to be absent. Maxamet is a "muttha" to work with, as you know. It's expesive, time consuming and there is fall out. We're currently assessing the situation to figure out what we can and cannot do with it.

Well if it’s a matter of pricing, i say just make them and price them at whatever they need to be priced at. I can only speak for myself but I’d buy multiples at prices that would seem way too high for most. I bet others would too.

The chance to have this steel in this platform is worth paying for. Obviously this doesn’t matter if it’s a logistics issue unrelated to profit margin, but still.

It could be that there's just no way to make that equation positive right now. The production expenses might be so high that there's no price point where Spyderco is likely to sell enough knives to make a profit. Raising the prices generates more revenue per sale, but (generally) lowers the total number of sales; depending where they are on the revenue curve, raising the price might actually make it harder to reach profitability.

C cwp , first post in 3+yrs...must be fired up about Maxamet !

I know Manix 2 Maxamet is available. I want to try out the steel but don't like the FRN scales on this platform. Would it be possible/easy to swap the scales with the Manix 2 s110v Blurple?

Yes, until they’re not. They had some issues with production. Keep your eyes open...they might come back with consistency like the Manix2 LW and Native5 LW or they might be seriously collectible.

Sal and company are re-thinking this model...this model may well be history...and the price goes UPPP for a perfect one.

If these do get discontinued they will increase in value..even the ones with less than perfect blades will go up in value.

Makes me wonder if a Maxamet Military will happen.

Well considering he was talking specifically about maxamet and not the PM2.... I’d say the Millie is absolutely in jeopardy

Geez. Im about to return my manix LW in Maxamet since I've kind of overbought too many knives. You guys are making me rethink that.

I bought a Para 3 due to the issues. I like it.

Only you can decide that. Everyone here will say you can never have too many knives.

Your going to return a knife because you have over spent? I’m assuming there isn’t anything wrong with it? People who do that and return the knife to retailers are he reason some have restocking fees.

Thanks for the info, Sal. Any way you could sell some of the less than perfect blades (marked "Blem. No Warranty")?

Thank you for your response Sal.

Would love to get one myself. But, understand.

God Bless,

Raymond3 Raymond3 , someone apparently with 3 of them just tried to sell one on the exchange for *cough* twice the price of when they were available. It was withdrawn when nobody felt desperate enough to have it. Still, I am sure that particular seller will wait it out and try again.:thumbsdown:

I saw that too. I'm still looking for a manix XL in that carbon fiber and s90v and I'm sure it's gonna cost me. Sometimes you just need to find the right buyer. It did seem somewhat opportunistic the way that post was worded. Almost like he was doing you a favor by selling it.
