Tell me what you love/hate about the techno

Pros:
Blade steel
Hollow grind
G10 backspacer

Cons:
Size
Blade thickness
Huge relief cut in the scale

I'm a huge Techno fan. Why? Let's see: great size for EDC-ing; it slices just fine, yet thanks to the thick blade stock it can handle tougher tasks like prying without batting an eyelash; it has good ergos (for my medium-sized paw, at least); it doesn't scare the crap out of people; I love the CTS-XHP steel; and, naturally, it sports typically stellar Taichung fit and finish.

I also happen to love how it looks.

Regards,
Adam

I am just not fond of the wire clips, tried them several times but they always felt cheap to me.

Yeah, I think the clip is the weak link on this knife as well. As I stated earlier in this thread, I actually snapped one last year.

Should of been down the way Marcin Slysz did his Mouse....

That clip looks much better. The wire clips look great on some knives, like the Calys, but the Techno has that small beefy look that kind of asks for a solid clip.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I prefer the look of the wireclip. I also really like the wireclip and it's my favorite clip variation that Spyderco makes. I have a thing for deep carry though, I really like it.

No, there are many other fans of the wire clip. I much prefer it to the other types. But I must say that, in a knife of this size, I always take it out. I think that a knife this small that is so unique must be appreciated for what it is, and some will like it and others won't. Rationalizing its characteristics and attributes won't change the mind of those in either camp. I like it a lot: it rides well in the bottom of the pocket and works very well as a worry bead. The dislikes: none, but the titanium could be anodized to a nice blue.

Likes: Size,wire clip,FFG,looks,backspacer,blade steel,stonewashed titanium,F@F,pocket feel,…
Don't like: Can't find anything really.
Great knife for edc.

I like the Techno. Great edc knife for me. Besides everything already stated, a dislike for me is the sharp corners on the handle. Thumb-flicking open chews my thumb nail pretty good. But I'm going to have that fixed (the handle, not my thumb :p ).

the Spyderco wire clips are the best bet for deep carry. The techno disappears in pocket. No1 would know you had a tank in your pocket.

I'm a big fan.. I ordered it feeling non-plus based on looks but loved the specs. I couldn't be happier and is one of the few knives that makes me say "What a great find".
The only con for me is the cog backspacer has some sharp edges when in pocket and you are putting your hands in/out. I'll probably get some moonglow and make a backspacer or file/round down the cog pattern a bit. I recommend picking one up for sure. If you aren't 100%, pickup a used one and you have less worry about making back your investment.

I was going to complain that it isn't pointy enough, then I remembered I actually dropped mine on concrete soon after I got it and knocked the point off. So that one's on me. I do wish it had the same clip style as the custom version. Other than that, I've noticed CTS-XHP likes to hold on to a burr. I probably spend most of my sharpening time trying to get rid of the burr on my Techno.

I'm glad to say I have been extremely pleased with how well the steel on my Techno has held up and how easy it's been to maintain a hair-popping edge.

I just got mine on Saturday. Materials and finish are top notch. I "needed" a <3" blade because I'm in Los Angeles County every once in a while and larger is illegal. It's awesome, but too stout for me to carry (in pocket only--no clipping to pocket--another California thing) in suits or dress pants.

Sorry for going a bit off-topic, but figured I'd throw this out there for a heads-up:

At the state level, California allows folders to be clipped to your pocket and does not restrict blade length. However, some counties, including LA, restrict unconcealed knives ("In plain view"; that means clipped to your pocket or otherwise showing on your person) to under 3 inches. That also means that you may carry a folding knife of 3" in length or more, as long as it is completely concealed and closed. As an example, carrying the Techno clipped to your pocket within LA county would be legal.
