Ten Worst Folders, and a Giveaway

In no particular order, and echoing some already pointed out:
1. Any knives made by/for a gun company. Winchester, S&W, Colt etc.
2. Any Frost Cutlery items
3. Any Mantis item
4. Dork Ops folder for the look and marketing
5. No-name Chinese Bali-Songs. Crazy blade play and dull as heck!
6. The TOPS CQT Magnum 711 for insulting my intelligence.
7. Emerson Folding Karambit. Mall ninja bait, pure and simple
and my 3 controversial picks:
8. CRKT Eros. It looks great, and I'm sure it works just fine, but why is CRKT trying to charge me $120+ for a $60 knife? Do I look like a sucker? Bite me, CRKT!!!
9. Spyderco steel handle Police Model. Great blade, but the thin, slick handle with no jimping or handguard is just an accident waiting to happen when my palms are wet or sweaty.
10. Griptilian. The sheepsfoot bladeshape they have is just about the most useless blade I have ever come across. And the serrations are also poorly designed.

cold steel pocket bushman- (the original) had such a terrible lock.
Buck bantam- pivot pin, not screw (no adjustability).
only two that really come to mind right now, there are others, but these two just really pissed me off!

most any m-tech (except the twist)
Smith & Wesson M&P assisted openers
any rescue knife with a seatbelt cutter like this one
any mantis knife (come one, 420 blade steel)
almost any knife made by "super knife" (not the folding utility knives)
Remington rescue knife
anything spyderco (I just don't like the spyder-hole to open a blade)
the "matrix" knife sold online

Camillus Lev-r-lock

Completely unwieldy. The lever open is gimmicky. Wish I hadn't bought it. I leave it in the glove box waiting until I can throw it at someone.

Here is a review: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=8&ved=0CD8QtwIwBw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.expotv.com%2Fvideos%2Freviews%2F19%2FCamillusSpecialtyKnivesLevRLokTan%2F14620&ei=AjR8TKXCAoygsQPrtcSFBw&usg=AFQjCNGP6huBCjSo29Dj3eL4l9Nky9qWBg:D

I carried one of them for a few years, RIGHT when they came out. Still have one around here somewhere.

MAN they were cool back then.

I have only one to add to this lengthy list of flops.

Spyderco T-Mag-- Absolutely excellent materials all around. Except for the less than exceptional rare earth magnet that holds the blade open and closed. I love the shape of the blade and the forward choil does help in keeping the blade open, but the whole idea was just one huge FAIL. Sorry Spyderco, I love ya, but what were you thinking?

Spyderco Ayoob
Spyderco Gunting
Spyderco Khalsa
CRKT M-16 series
Gerber Paraframe
The SAK with every blade
The Frost knives with the 'ball lock' where the ball actually just presses the liner lock and disengages it as soon as you grip the knife.
Schrade Cliphanger
CRKT Edgie, with the built in diamond self-sharpener
The Remington 740/760 where the bolt lock is contained in the magazine--oh wait, that's not a knife.

I thought this was about knives not the country you hate, brands you do not like , or stores you will not buy a knife from.Unless you have owned a knife how can you report on it?

My thoughts exactly. I'm going to bet that most of the knives named were never owned or handled by the posters. In some cases they might have been in the hand for 30 seconds at a knife store. I'm thinking that these lists are compiled mostly from online pictures people have looked at and the bandwagon factor.

So which knives do you guys have that keep showing up on the lists? ;)

Knives I just despise.

1.Spyderco Tenacious
2.Spyderco Persistance
3.Spyderco Sage
4.Spyderco Gayle Bradley
5.Spyderco Cat (so bad Spyderco discontinued it after only weeks)
6.Spyderco Chicago (so bad Spyderco discontinued it after only weeks)
7.Spyderco Chokwe
8.Spyderco Byrd lines
9.Benchmade Vex

Disclaimer: My top ten includes many spydies, so I'm not flaming Spyderco here.

I definitely see a pattern in this one and it's not Spyderco. :D

I agree with you Kitkat52. It was easy for me to jump on the Pakistan/China rant without thinking much about it because I do have several "production" knives that were given to me (as prizes etc.) from those countries, and they are junk. It had nothing to do with hating the people of either country -just a reflection of what mostly makes it to this country. I'm sure both countries have accomplished makers that have not seen international recognition yet. I have a relatively inexpensive Spyderco that is made in China that I like just fine (I just found it, it was made in Taiwan, not China proper so maybe not apples to apples). I don't know that everyone hates big box stores. It's just that they may not carry the type of knives that the "discerning" (or should I say completely over the edge with knife sickness or the fatal Infi sickness) BladeForums members may be interested in. I was in our local big box sports store the other day and saw a couple buying a $15 knife with "surgical stainless" for the guy's birthday. I was aching to say something. But maybe that was all they could afford. Maybe they would not even know to appreciate a nicer knife. Maybe I should have gently pointed them to BladeForums and really ruined their lives - as I type this at 1:44 am.

I feel like this forum should be based on fact like Mike157s comments that his Pakistan/China production knives are junk.I wonder about the merit and merciless rants that can be made on this forum.Has the person who hates a knife ever held the knife in their hands? If a person damn's a brand, store chain, craftsmen from a country,or all production knives then they should share how you have arrived at their conclusions.By the way I think this forum can be read by people from all around the world. It does reach out beyond the USA and Canada. What do you think?

1.The cheap knives you see at gas stations = worst of the worst(the same knife that a co-worker would suggest is as good as anything that costs more)
2.the old 5 dollar survival knives....with the cheap compasses
3. CRKT Corkum First Strike Tanto hate the steel
4. m-tech is it a knife or a spatula

not to many others....I may not like them but I have no experience with them...

and I listed two fixed blade styles because they are honorable mention bad...

All Microtech OTF knives - Who in their right mind want to walk around with an accident waiting to happen clipped to their pocket? Doh!

I see you've never handled and or fired one. If the blade experiences the slightest resistance during firing, it becomes disengaged, rendering the knife unable to fire into your thigh.
