Just wanted to pop in and offer KUDOS to Michael for putting in the time and effort on this thread! I've done a good deal of judging at both the JS and MS levels, and can tell you that its nerve wracking as a judge too. Everyone who judges has been on the other end at some point in time, and its a privledge (judging) that is not taken lightly. By far the JS level is the most difficult to judge, because at that level mistakes are anticipated. The agonizing part is determining if the mistake(s) are enough to cause a "fail". I remember my first time judging at the MS level..... I was a wreck. The head judge looked at me and said.... Don't worry, this will be the easiest judging you've ever done.....if it looks like a mistake, it is a mistake, and the knife/knives fail. He was right.
I'm not judging this year (whew!), but wish only the best to all the applicants! If you've done your homework, and taken pride in what you've produced, the outcome will be good!
