How about some zombie ears?

Nuthin yet?

:) Waiting to hear back on the toad skins, and a few other creative skins.

The pattern is pretty much set, aside from trying to decide about the mouth of the sheath. It appears that the original kind of rides up on the handle a bit, trying to figure out if that is because the thin leather and lacing busted or if it was intended that way.

I'm thinking of not going with that feature, it just screams unfinished or broke to me. What y'all think?

As a refresher, this is the closest I've done to the show. It was a while back for a fellows Haloween costume.

Imagine that one with weathering and/or a frog skin inlay.

No lacing, sorry, I dont have the skills necessary for that.

I think it would look great on my Tan Canvas and black blade:cool:
Count me in for one of those!

Looks great!!

I met a girl recently who was bragging about how she buys expensive new boots, puts them in a garbage bag, then runs over them 5 to 6 times so that they look distressed.

I laughed to myself at the time, but it might be a good idea if you are looking to make a leather sheath look like its been worn during the zombie apocalypse.

Doing some dying on some of that distressed leather today, one black, one tan antiqued, and one brown mottled. :) Pics as soon as the dye cures in.

Waiting for a dealer in Australia to let me know pricing on those toad skins, especially uncolored, but they are slow to respond. :(

We shall wait in anticipation:cool:

Makes me want a Team Gemini!! I have got to get one soon. You make some cool sheaths Dwayne. I have loved both of the ones you made for me. We need pic's soon please.

That is going to be a cool sheath with the toad skin. I think I've got an old lacing punch in my pile of tools, may have to do a distressed sheath and lace it. Havn't done a laced sheath in 30years, hope I havn't completely forgotten how.

Dwayne, I'd say the cane toad leather should be worth the wait. It will turn out great, I'm sure of it.

Maybe you should stain it fairly light tan/brown and do some blood coloured drops/splashes to keep with the zombie theme... :D

So far so good on the distressed leather stain, the antique is looking great as it cures! The black is .....well..... black, so we'll have to do some extra work on it to make it look "good" :)

Quick mockup I did of what my first thoughts were when I saw the toad skin.

Zombie skin overlay with cutouts revealing a dark red "bloody" layer underneath. Disregard the top of the sheath and the keeper, I didn't bother doing anything with that.
