Thanksgiving Giveaway: "George L. Herter Knife" (R. Murphy Knives) - Winner Selected

Elliott, let me have a chance for this one. I remember the Herter catalog description which I believe to have referred to this particular model. "This is no drugstore cowboy's knife."

I always wanted one of them, but never got around to getting one. If I win this one, it will surely be used and taken care of.

George Herter was a great man, provided a lot of great products and entertainment through his catologs. Everything Herter's made was "world famous" and best ever! ( According to George) And they did make damn good stuff- Bows, 401 powermag, Bull cook and how to live with a "B" books, Archery guide etc.

The Herters stores were Mecca for out door sports!

Kind of a original 'cabelas" :)

Thanks for the chance!

A classic if ever there was one....Definitely one of the best patterns ever made as a working knife....not an entry sir.......................FES

Wow Elliot, that's a really neat knife, I would love to enter - but to be honest the knife would be queened more than have use - and this knife deserves to be used by the outdoorsies!
Elliot = Legend.

I have an old Herters Catalog from the 1960's (my Uncle Fred gave it to me way back when) - it was fascinating reading for an outdoors loving boy, although I never ordered anything from them (boys don't have much money). I'm in and thank you! OH

Thanks for the kind words, friends. Over the years I've accumulated, (intentionally as well as incidentally), more than I'll ever really need or use and I've found that I enjoy giving them away much more than selling them. (And I'm thankful for being in a position to do so.) So if fate and circumstances allow, I plan to do this for years to come.

In truth these giveaways are their own reward and I'm pleased that some folks have spoken up and kept those less fortunate in their thoughts and hearts.

Keep those entries coming...

I'm in Elliott, I've always wanted one of these, ever since I read about it in a book my father had on becoming a wilderness/hunting guide, I even got to try one for a week in a pass around about 8 years ago.

Thanks for the generous giveaway Elliott, good luck to everyone else and while I'm at it, Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Wow! I'd be honored to have a chance at that gorgeous knife! Thanks for the chance and reminding us that thanksgiving is more than just an opportunity to start Christmas shopping as early as possible.
