Thanksgiving Giveaway: "George L. Herter Knife" (R. Murphy Knives) - Winner Selected

Whoa! I was blindsided on that one! I even sent a chatty pm to Elliot this morning before I discovered this! In the 1960s as a pimply teenager I ordered many items from Herter's, and had uproarious fun over his b.s. (World Famous laminated 17 degree Mark XVIV European mothabumpa champion whatever). I recently relinquished my last Herter relic, a cast-iron reloading press. Turns out he now has a devoted collector fan club. Anyway, I am looking forward to that knife; it will really take me back. Thanks again, Elliot. It looks like my turn for a giveaway is coming up soon. Give me a little time to prepare that scenario.

You're very welcome, Cal. It seems appropriate you won given your former association with Herter's wares and the types of knives you collect...not to mention the area you reside in and its history which has been the subject of many of our conversations in the past.

Thanks to you all for the very kind words. I hope that I live up to them. Enjoy the holidays and remember those in need.

Congratulations Calvin. Great giveaway Elliott, nice to see a bit more of you these days ;)

Cal, it's on the way. Just back from the post office...hopefully it'll be there before Thanksgiving.

(And thank you, Jack.)

Alright!! Congratulations Cal. I've always thought that knife would be a great belt knife, just never got one.

This is cool. This whole thread is "win".

And it doesn't even require wearing a tie! ;)

(And if Cal catches anybody wearing one hereabouts, he's welcome to cut it off with his new belt knife.)
