its funny in america that knife is becoming a legality issue as in asia where i lived its part of culture to own knives and everywhere is knife friendly....in nepal khukri, in japan the katanas and in filipino knife fighting sport and long swords for sikh community in india.

if liberals had it their way we would all only be allowed butter knife or spork and need a permit for it waitlist of 5 years

Yeah, a ball bearing flipper can be much faster than a italian stiletto, for example. I guess switchblades and balisongs are viewed as frighting knives. (Hollywood could be culprit here)

I thought the reason they were banned is that a cheap low-quality stiletto can be accident-prone (opening in your pocket, blades getting launched on opening etc).

I'm not sure if this is a myth or truth. Sometimes I see high-end stilettos online, and I can really appreciate them. But I think of all the people that would get the 'gas station' equivalent of one and it makes me shudder.
